Removal of the Aileron-Hinge Support Frames 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are retracted fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap slat control lever.
   (3) Make sure the aicraft is electrically grounded (Ref. AMM TASK 12-34-24-869-002).
   (4) Depressurise the Green and the Blue hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (5) Depressurise the applicable hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (6) Remove the safety collar from the circuit breakers 9CV and 11CV.

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the applicable aileron, zone 575(675).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels:
     (a) For the left wing remove:
     (b) For the right wing remove:
   (3) Remove the applicable aileron (Ref. AMM TASK 27-14-41-000-001).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
Subtask 57-51-31-020-050-E
A. Removal of the Aileron-Hinge Support Frames 1, 2 and 3
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (2), (4), (10), (15), (18), (22) and (26).
   (2) Remove and retain the nut (3) and the bolt (1). Disconnect the strut (32) at its rear end.
   (3) Make a note of the quantity of washers (6), (9) and (14) between the tie-beam assembly (31) and the support frames (7), (12) and (17).
   (4) Remove and retain the nuts (5), (11) and (16) and the bolts (8), (13) and (33). Remove and retain the tie-beam assembly (31) and the washers (6), (9) and (14) from the support frames (7), (12) and (17).
   (5) Remove and retain the items that follow:
  • the nuts (19), (23) and (27)
  • the washers (20), (24), (28)
  • the bolts (21), (25) and (30)
  • the support frames (7), (12) and (17).
NOTE: The bracket (29) must stay in position.

B. Removal of the Aileron-Hinge Support Frames 4 and 5
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (11) and (14).
   (2) Remove and retain the nuts (5) and (6) and the bolts (3) and (9). Disconnect the bonding leads (2), (7) and (10) from the support frames (4) and (8).
   (3) Remove and retain the items that follow:
  • the nuts (12) and (15)
  • the bolts (1) and (13)
  • the support frames (4) and (8).
