3. Job Set-up
Subtask 57-27-12-941-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you obeyed the safety procedures when you do work in the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the slats and flaps control lever.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) (is)are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats and flaps control lever.
Subtask 57-27-12-860-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the wing fuel tank, at zone 540(640).
   (2) Make sure that the applicable access panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001):
  • For the left wing: 540AB
  • For the right wing: 640AB.
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-27-12-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for the Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 57-27-12-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Rib 2 Access Panel 540AZ (640AZ) or 540BZ (640BZ)


   (1) Bond the new AIPC 57-27-85-04-260 SEAL (1) to the rib 2 access panel (9) with Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) and make sure that:
     (a) The bond ends of the seal (1) have an overlap joint A of 40 -10 mm or +10 mm (1.57 -0.39 in. or +0.39 in.).
     (b) There is no adhesive sealant on the area of the seal (1) that you can see. If necessary, remove the unwanted adhesive sealant with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (2) Put the rib 2 access panel (9) in position.
   (3) Install the clamp disks (4), the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
   (4) Tighten the bolts (6).
   (5) Measure the clearance B between the rib 2 access panel (9) and the rib 2 opening.
   (6) Make sure that the clearance B is 2.5 -1 mm or +1 mm (0.10 -0.04 in. or +0.04 in.).
   (7) If the clearance B is not in the tolerance, do the adjustment that follows:
     (a) Loosen the bolts (6) of the rib 2 access panel (9).
     (b) Move the rib 2 access panel (9) until the clearance B is in the tolerance.
     (c) Tighten the bolts (6).
   (8) TORQUE the bolts (6) in the 1 thru 6 sequence, first to between 3.00 and 2.00 m.N (26.55 and 17.70 lbf.in ) T.
   (9) TORQUE the bolts (6) in the 1 thru 6 sequence, then to between 9.00 and 8.00 m.N (79.65 and 70.80 lbf.in )
T.
   (10) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
   (11) Install the bolts (8), the washers (3), the bonding leads (7) and the nuts (2).
   (12) Tighten the nuts (2).
   (13) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
5. Close-up
Subtask 57-27-12-410-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001):
  • For the left wing: 540AB
  • For the right wing: 640AB.
Subtask 57-27-12-941-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the slats and flaps control lever.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
