Detailed Inspection of Outer-Wing Flap-Track-Beams 2, 3, 4 Forward Spigot Pins, Bolts and Fittings

  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing trailing edge:
  • for flap track 2, at zone 531(631)
  • for flap track 3, at zone 532(632)
  • for flap track 4, at zone 533(633).
   (2) Remove the applicable flap track fixed fairing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001):

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing trailing edge:
  • for flap track 2, at zone 531(631)
  • for flap track 3, at zone 532(632)
  • for flap track 4, at zone 533(633).
   (2) Remove the applicable flap track fixed fairing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004):
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean these areas:
  • the forward spigot pins
  • the bolts and the fittings of the applicable flap track beam.
   (2) On the inboard and outboard side:
  • remove and discard the cotter pins (5)
  • remove the collars (4)
  • remove the pins (2).
   (3) Carefully remove the anti-chafe collars (3) from the failsafe pin (1) on the inboard and outboard side.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer-Wing Flap-Track-Beams 2, 3, 4 Forward Spigot Pins, Bolts and Fittings
   (1) Check the gap between the failsafe pin (1) and the catcher bracket:
     (a) Make sure that the failsafe pin (1) does not touch the catcher bracket.
     (b) Make sure that the flap-beam does not move when the anti-chafe collar (3) is put back to its initial position.
NOTE: A failed forward spigot pin is indicated if:
  • the failsafe pin (1) touches the catcher bracket
  • the flap beam moves when the anti-chafe collar (3) is put back to its initial position.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572600 for the correct repair procedure. If the defect is not included in this repair, you must request a procedure from AIRBUS.

C. Installation of Items Removed for Inspection
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the failsafe pin (1) and the anti-chafe collars (3).
   (2) Install the anti-chafe collars (3) on the failsafe pin (1) on the inboard and outboard side.
   (3) Install the pins (2) and the collars (4) on the inboard and outboard side.
   (4) Safety the pins (2) with a new AIPC 57-51-33-02-010 cotter pin (5) on the inboard and outboard side.

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
