SPECIAL DETAILED INSPECTION (HFEC AND US) OF BOTTOM COVER, STRINGERS 8, 11 AND STEEL STRAPS RIB BAYS 12-26.

NOTE: The effectivity of this task is "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft, refer to the MPD task applicability.

NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this procedure, one inside the fuel tank and one outside.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Obey the safety procedures when you do work in the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001)
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the slats and flaps control lever.
(3) In the cockpit, on the center pedestal, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the slats and flaps control lever.
(4) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing fuel tank, at zones 540(640) and 550(650).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002):

For the left wing: 540GB, 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 540LB, 540MB, 540NB, 540PB, 540QB, 540RB, 550AB, 550BB, 550CB and 550DB
For the right wing: 640GB, 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 640LB, 640MB, 640NB, 640PB, 640QB, 640RB, 650AB, 650BB, 650CB and 650DB.

D. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If the inspection area is not sufficiently clean, clean it with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) If sealant or paint is applied on the inspection area:

Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
Remove the paint.

B. Inspection
(1) Do a special detailed inspection of the steel-straps rib bays 12-26 for damage or discontinuities NTM 572174. Do this inspection on the bottom cover at stringers 8 and 11.
(2) Refer to the NTM inspection report and do the applicable step:
(a) Corrosion:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

C. Sealant or Paint Application
(1) If you removed the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area, apply sealant SRM 512400 or paint SRM 512300 on the inspection area.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002):

For the left wing: 540GB, 540HB, 540JB, 540KB, 540LB, 540MB, 540NB, 540PB, 540QB, 540RB, 550AB, 550BB, 550CB and 550DB
For the right wing: 640GB, 640HB, 640JB, 640KB, 640LB, 640MB, 640NB, 640PB, 640QB, 640RB, 650AB, 650BB, 650CB and 650DB.

(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
