A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Obey the safety procedures when you do work in the fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the slats and flaps control lever.
   (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats and flaps control lever.
   (4) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 540(640).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels:
     (a) For the left wing:
     (b) For the right wing:
   (3) Open the applicable rib 2 surge doors:
   (4) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the forward surge doors.
   (5) Install the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) on the aft surge doors.
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-21-00-200-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the fuel tank(s) for detached identification labels (1) and (2). Make sure that all the detached labels (1) and (2) are removed from:
  • The collector cell (between rib 1 and rib 2)
  • The wing tank inner and outer cells (between rib 2 and rib 22)
  • The surge tank (between rib 22 and rib 26).
   (2) Remove all the remaining identification labels (1) and (2) that are attached to the wing structure and/or access panels.
   (3) Replace the labels (1) and (2) with ink markings using the procedure given in SB 57-1117 (Ref. SB 57-1117).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) from the forward surge doors.
   (3) Remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) from the aft surge doors.
   (4) Close the applicable rib 2 surge doors:
   (5) Install the applicable access panels:
     (a) For the left wing:
     (b) For the right wing:
