Subtask 55-36-41-860-053-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position in the cockpit to tell persons:
  • Not to pressurize the hydraulic systems
  • Not to operate the flight controls.
   (3) Put the rudder pedals in the neutral position.
   (4) Make sure that the red painted marks on the tail cone and the trailing edge of the rudder are aligned (Ref. AMM TASK 55-31-11-000-001).
   (5) Put the rigging pin 98D27207516160, part of 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET or the 98D27207547000 PIN-RIGGING in the rudder cable quadrant (Ref. AMM TASK 55-31-11-000-001).
   (6) Put the rigging pin 98D27207516330, part of 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET or the 98D27207548000 PIN-RIGGING in the rudder control unit (Ref. AMM TASK 55-31-11-000-001).

     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 10M (33 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
     (b) Remove the access panels 325BL 325CL 325DL 325BR 325CR 325DR (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-000-001).
     (c) Remove the access panels 325AL 325AR (Ref. AMM TASK 53-55-12-000-001).

F. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the hinge fitting No. 7.
     (a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 10M (33 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
     (b) Remove the access panels 325EL 325ER (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-000-001).
     (c) Remove the access panel 326CT at the rudder attach fitting No. 7 (Ref. AMM TASK 55-42-13-000-001).
     (d) Remove the vertical stabilizer tip 324AT (Ref. AMM TASK 55-34-11-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 55-36-41-020-050-C
CAUTION: IF YOU MUST REPLACE MORE THAN ONE VERTICAL STABILIZER HINGE ARM, DO NOT REMOVE THE RUDDER. IF YOU REMOVE THE RUDDER, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE RUDDER WILL NOT BE CORRECTLY ALIGNED WHEN YOU INSTALL IT AGAIN.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE HINGE ARM FITTING. TOOLS THAT YOU USE TO REMOVE THE HINGE ARM FITTING CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HINGE ARM.
A. Remove the hinge fitting from the rudder bearing No. 1 thru 5
NOTE: The removal procedures are given for the hinge fitting No. 1. The removal procedures for the hinge fittings No. 2 thru No. 5 are almost the same.
NOTE: Only remove one hinge fitting at a time.
   (1) Use the SL90-314-5625 TOOL - EXTRACTION, TAB WASHERS STA-LOK NSA5454 and remove the tab washer (6) from the slotted nut (7).
   (2) Remove the slotted nut (7) with the SL90-322-5625 WRENCH - NOTCHED, TIGHTENING OF NUTS NSA5454.
   (3) Remove the rudder hinge bolt (1), washer (2) and retaining plate (3).
   (4) Remove the top and bottom bushes (4).
   (5) Remove the bolt (8) and the bonding strip (5) from the deflector plate (9).
   (6) Remove the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211 from the hinge arm (10) and the deflector plate (9).
   (7) Remove the hinge fitting (11).

CAUTION: IF YOU MUST REPLACE MORE THAN ONE VERTICAL STABILIZER HINGE ARM, DO NOT REMOVE THE RUDDER. IF YOU REMOVE THE RUDDER, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE RUDDER WILL NOT BE CORRECTLY ALIGNED WHEN YOU INSTALL IT AGAIN.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE HINGE ARM FITTING. TOOLS THAT YOU USE TO REMOVE THE HINGE ARM FITTING CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HINGE ARM.
B. Remove the hinge fitting from the rudder bearing No.6
NOTE: Only remove one hinge fitting at a time.
   (1) Remove the rudder support strut (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 55-36-48-000-001).
   (2) Use the SL90-350-7500 TOOL - EXTRACTION, TAB WASHERS STA-LOK NSA 5454 and remove the tab washer (3) from the slotted nut (2).
   (3) Remove the slotted nut (2) with the WRENCH - STANDARD.
   (4) Remove the rudder hinge pin (11) and the retaining plate (9) with the washer (10).
   (5) Remove the bushes (8) and (1).
   (6) Remove the bolt (6) and the bonding strip (5).
   (7) Remove the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211 and the deflector plate (4).
   (8) Remove the hinge fitting (7).

CAUTION: IF YOU MUST REPLACE MORE THAN ONE VERTICAL STABILIZER HINGE ARM, DO NOT REMOVE THE RUDDER. IF YOU REMOVE THE RUDDER, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE RUDDER WILL NOT BE CORRECTLY ALIGNED WHEN YOU INSTALL IT AGAIN.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE HINGE ARM FITTING. TOOLS THAT YOU USE TO REMOVE THE HINGE ARM FITTING CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HINGE ARM.
C. Remove the hinge fitting from the rudder bearing No.7
NOTE: Only remove one hinge fitting at a time.
   (1) Use the SL90-314-5625 TOOL - EXTRACTION, TAB WASHERS STA-LOK NSA5454 and remove the tab washer (6) from the slotted nut (5).
   (2) Remove the slotted nut (5) with the SL90-322-5625 WRENCH - NOTCHED, TIGHTENING OF NUTS NSA5454.
   (3) Remove the rudder hinge bolt (1), washer (2) and retaining plate (3).
   (4) Remove the top and bottom bushes (4).
   (5) Remove the bolt (10) and the bonding strip (9).
   (6) Remove the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211 and the deflector plate (8).
   (7) Remove the hinge fitting (7).
