A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.

(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Open the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.
(4) Remove the power plant (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-51-000-802).
(5) Remove the aft mount assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-22-41-000-805).
(6) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-802):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
(7) Remove the engine fire-extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).

NOTE: Two person are necessary to remove the aft centering pins:

one to hold the wrench head
another one to hold wrench handle.

(1) Remove the nuts (1) and the washers (2).
(2) Discard the nuts (1).
(3) Remove the aft centering pins (3) and (4).
