Installation of the Spigot Ball Joint
WARNING:

WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

Spigot Ball JointSubtask 54-51-41-860-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is in position on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(3) Make sure that WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
(4) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
(5) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
(a) For the left pylon, at zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, at zones 420 and 480.
(7) Make sure that the forward fire extinguisher bottles is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
Subtask 54-51-41-040-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is in position on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(3) Make sure that WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
(4) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
(5) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
(a) For the left pylon, at zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, at zones 420 and 480.
(7) Make sure that the forward fire extinguisher bottles is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001).
B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-51-41-914-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). C. Preparation of the Replacement Component
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(a) Clean the external surfaces of the spigot ball joint (3) and the bolts (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(2) Do a visual inspection of the spigot ball joint (3).
(3) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the spigot (3) and all the friction surfaces.
4. Procedure(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(a) Clean the external surfaces of the spigot ball joint (3) and the bolts (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(2) Do a visual inspection of the spigot ball joint (3).
(3) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the spigot (3) and all the friction surfaces.
Subtask 54-51-41-420-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Spigot Ball Joint
(1) Put the spigot ball joint (3) in its housing.
(2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the shafts of the bolts (7) and the hi-locks (2) and (6).
(3) For the left pylon:
(a) Install the hi-locks (2) and the collars (1) SRM 514200.
(4) For the right pylon:
(a) Install the bolts (7) and the nuts (4).
(b) Install the hi-locks (6) and the collars (5) SRM 514200.
(c) Tighten the nuts (4).
(5) If the washers (9) and (11) and the screws (8) and (10) were removed:
(7) Remove the unwanted sealant with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 54-51-41-420-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the spigot ball joint (3) in its housing.
(2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the shafts of the bolts (7) and the hi-locks (2) and (6).
(3) For the left pylon:
(a) Install the hi-locks (2) and the collars (1) SRM 514200.
(4) For the right pylon:
(a) Install the bolts (7) and the nuts (4).
(b) Install the hi-locks (6) and the collars (5) SRM 514200.
(c) Tighten the nuts (4).
(5) If the washers (9) and (11) and the screws (8) and (10) were removed:
- Install the washers (9) and (11) and the screws (8) and (10) on the bracket (12) and the clamps (13).
- Tighten the screws (8) and (10).
(7) Remove the unwanted sealant with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
B. Connection of the Bonding Leads of the Spigot at Rib 6
(1) If removed, connect the bonding leads (24) of the spigot at rib 6:
(a) Put the bonding leads (24) in position on the bonding angles (23) that are installed on the pylon box at rib 6.
(b) Install and tighten the bolts (25).
(c) Do the electrical bonding at the applicable location on the bonding angles (23) that are installed on the pylon box at rib 6 (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
5. Close-up(1) If removed, connect the bonding leads (24) of the spigot at rib 6:
(a) Put the bonding leads (24) in position on the bonding angles (23) that are installed on the pylon box at rib 6.
(b) Install and tighten the bolts (25).
(c) Do the electrical bonding at the applicable location on the bonding angles (23) that are installed on the pylon box at rib 6 (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 54-51-41-410-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Components
(1) Install the forward fire extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-001).
(2) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-802):
(a) For the right pylon:

(3) Install the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-804):

Subtask 54-51-41-440-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the forward fire extinguisher bottle (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-001).
(2) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-802):
(a) For the right pylon:

B. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser
(1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
