(3) Remove the nuts (12) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
(4) Remove the fail-safe pins (16).
(5) Release the tab washers (14).
(6) Lock the sleeves (15) with a special wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET and release the nuts (13).
(7) Remove the nuts (13) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
(8) Remove the tab washers (14) and discard them.
(9) Remove the sleeves (15) with the 98D54003005001 PYLON SHAFT EXTRACTOR. Remove the sleeves at the bottom first.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(4) Defuel the applicable aircraft wing-tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
Subtask 54-51-17-040-059-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-51-17-869-064-A Subtask 54-51-17-581-057-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Aircraft Lifting
(1) Lift the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
Subtask 54-51-17-020-098-A (1) Lift the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
NOTE: It is not necessary to lift the wheels of the aircraft off the ground. It is only necessary to lift the aircraft sufficiently to prevent a force caused by the reaction of the shock absorber.
E. Removal of the Components
(1) Remove the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-806):

(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 413ET 471AL 471BL 472AR
(b) For the right pylon: 423ET 481AL 482AR 482BR.
Subtask 54-51-17-020-094-A (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels and doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 413ET 471AL 471BL 472AR
(b) For the right pylon: 423ET 481AL 482AR 482BR.
G. Removal of the Electrical Connectors and the Rods
(1) Disconnect electrical connectors 6HA1-A (6HA2-A) (18) and 6HA1-B (6HA2-B) (17) from the temperature sensors.
(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Remove the nuts (16), the washers (2) and the bolts (3).
(4) Remove the clamps (9) that are installed on the rod (10).
(5) Remove the clamps (1).
(7) Remove the nuts (5) and the washers (6).
(8) Remove the bolts (8) and the sleeves (7).
(9) Remove the nuts (12) and the washers (11).
(10) Remove the bolts (15).
(11) Remove the rods (10) and (14).
Subtask 54-51-17-020-095-A (1) Disconnect electrical connectors 6HA1-A (6HA2-A) (18) and 6HA1-B (6HA2-B) (17) from the temperature sensors.
(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Remove the nuts (16), the washers (2) and the bolts (3).
(4) Remove the clamps (9) that are installed on the rod (10).
(5) Remove the clamps (1).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(6) Remove the cotter pins (4) and (13) and discard them. (7) Remove the nuts (5) and the washers (6).
(8) Remove the bolts (8) and the sleeves (7).
(9) Remove the nuts (12) and the washers (11).
(10) Remove the bolts (15).
(11) Remove the rods (10) and (14).
H. Disconnection of the Fuel/Defuel System Components
(1) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) in position below the fuel connections.
(2) Disconnect the fuel recirculation check-valve from its connection adjacent RIB7 of the pylon box (Ref. AMM TASK 28-16-42-000-001).
(3) Disconnect the fuel line coupling from its connection adjacent to RIB5 of the pylon box. To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (21) and the bolts (20) from the clamps (17).
(b) Disconnect the bonding straps (18), (19) and (23) from the clamps (17).
(c) Remove the clamps (17) from the pipe (22).
(d) Remove the nuts (15), the bolts (31), the washers (30) and the clamps (14).
(e) Disengage the sleeves (29) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
(f) Move the sleeves (29) on the pipe (22).
(g) Remove the pipe (22) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33). To do this:
2 Loosen the nuts (16) and (27).
3 Remove the nuts (16) and (27) and the connectors (28).
4 Remove the pipe (22) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
5 Remove the retaining rings (26) from the pipe (22) and discard them.
6 Discard the O-rings (24) and (25).
7 Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(h) Remove the retaining rings (13) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33) and discard them.
(i) Remove the O-rings (11) and (12) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33). and discard them.
(j) Put blanking caps on the disconnected fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
4. Procedure(1) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) in position below the fuel connections.
(2) Disconnect the fuel recirculation check-valve from its connection adjacent RIB7 of the pylon box (Ref. AMM TASK 28-16-42-000-001).
(3) Disconnect the fuel line coupling from its connection adjacent to RIB5 of the pylon box. To do this:
(a) Remove the nuts (21) and the bolts (20) from the clamps (17).
(b) Disconnect the bonding straps (18), (19) and (23) from the clamps (17).
(c) Remove the clamps (17) from the pipe (22).
(d) Remove the nuts (15), the bolts (31), the washers (30) and the clamps (14).
(e) Disengage the sleeves (29) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
(f) Move the sleeves (29) on the pipe (22).
(g) Remove the pipe (22) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33). To do this:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
1 Remove the lockwire from the connectors (28) and the nuts (16) and (27) and discard them. 2 Loosen the nuts (16) and (27).
3 Remove the nuts (16) and (27) and the connectors (28).
4 Remove the pipe (22) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
5 Remove the retaining rings (26) from the pipe (22) and discard them.
6 Discard the O-rings (24) and (25).
7 Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(h) Remove the retaining rings (13) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33) and discard them.
(i) Remove the O-rings (11) and (12) from the fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33). and discard them.
(j) Put blanking caps on the disconnected fuel pipe assemblies (32) and (33).
Subtask 54-51-17-481-057-A
A. Installation of the Dynamometric Adaptor and Jack
(1) Install a 98D54403009000 DYNAMOMETRIC ADAPTOR (top subassembly) in position on the forward engine-to-pylon attach-fittings.
(2) Put the jack in position below the forward engine-to-pylon attach-fittings.
(3) Install the 98D54403009000 DYNAMOMETRIC ADAPTOR (bottom subassembly) on the jack and apply a force of 300 +100 kg or -100 kg (661.3866 +220.4622 lb or -220.4622 lb) in the top direction.
Subtask 54-51-17-020-093-A (1) Install a 98D54403009000 DYNAMOMETRIC ADAPTOR (top subassembly) in position on the forward engine-to-pylon attach-fittings.
(2) Put the jack in position below the forward engine-to-pylon attach-fittings.
(3) Install the 98D54403009000 DYNAMOMETRIC ADAPTOR (bottom subassembly) on the jack and apply a force of 300 +100 kg or -100 kg (661.3866 +220.4622 lb or -220.4622 lb) in the top direction.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
B. Removal of the Pylon-to-Wing Forward Attach-Fittings at RIB5 NOTE: If the time necessary to complete this task is more than one hour, it is necessary to install the 98D54403000000 DUMMY SHACKLES-PYLON TO WING YOKES and the 98D54403001000 DUMMY SLEEVES-PYLON TO WING YOKES.
(1) Remove the cotter pins (11) and discard them. (2) Lock the fail-safe pins (16) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
(3) Remove the nuts (12) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
(4) Remove the fail-safe pins (16).
(5) Release the tab washers (14).
(6) Lock the sleeves (15) with a special wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET and release the nuts (13).
(7) Remove the nuts (13) with a pin wrench from the 98D54503000001 PYLON R/I WRENCH SET.
(8) Remove the tab washers (14) and discard them.
(9) Remove the sleeves (15) with the 98D54003005001 PYLON SHAFT EXTRACTOR. Remove the sleeves at the bottom first.
NOTE: It is necessary to increase the force at the top continuously and equally until you can remove the sleeves.
(10) Remove the shackles (17).
