A. Get Access
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in front of passenger/crew door 831(841).
   (2) Open passenger/crew door 831( 841).
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start the work on the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).

Subtask 52-11-31-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Removal of the Components
   (1) Remove the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
If the left escape-slide pack-assembly is installed, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-002).
     (b) For the right door:
If the right escape-slide pack-assembly is installed, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-802).
   (2) Remove the door linings from the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-001).
   (3) Remove the door frame linings from the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-005) or (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-002).
   (4) Install the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR on the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-480-001).
   (5) Remove the insulation blankets from the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
Subtask 52-11-31-010-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Removal of the Components
   (1) Remove the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
If the left escape-slide raft pack-assembly is installed, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-012).
     (b) For the right door:
If the right escape-slide raft pack-assembly is installed, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-804).
   (2) Remove the door linings from the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-001).
   (3) Remove the door frame linings from the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-005) or (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-002).
   (4) Install the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR on the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-480-001).
   (5) Remove the insulation blankets from the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-11-31-020-051-A
A. Removal of the Stop Fittings at FR16 and FR20
   (1) Remove the sealant from the stop fitting (11) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Loosen the nuts (10) and remove them.
   (3) Remove the screws (12).
   (4) Remove the stop fitting (11).

B. Removal of the Buffer
   (1) Remove the sealant from the buffer (20) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Loosen the nuts (22) and remove them.
   (3) Remove the screws (21).
   (4) Remove the buffer (20).

C. Removal of the Upper and Lower Guide Fittings
   (1) Removal of the upper guide fitting at FR20
     (a) Remove the sealant around the upper guide fitting (31) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Loosen the screws (32) and remove them.
     (c) Remove the washers (33), the upper guide fitting (31) and the shim (34).
   (2) Removal of the upper guide fitting at FR16
     (a) Remove the sealant around the upper guide fitting (41) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Loosen the screws (42) and remove them.
     (c) Remove the washers (43), the upper guide fitting (41) and the shim (44).
   (3) Removal of the lower guide fittings at FR16 and FR20
     (a) Remove the sealant around the lower guide fitting (51) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Loosen the screw (52) and remove it.
     (c) Remove the washer (53), the lower guide fitting (51) and the shim (54).

D. Removal of the Rollers
   (1) Remove the sealant around the roller (60) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Loosen the nuts (61) and remove them.
   (3) Remove the bolts (62).
   (4) Disassemble the roller (70) as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
     (a) Remove the cotter pin (71) and discard it.
     (b) Loosen the nut (72) and remove it.
     (c) Remove the washer (73), the bolt (74) and the washer (75).
     (d) Remove the bushing (76), the roller (70) and the bushing (77).

E. Removal of the Lower Support-Arm Fittings at FR16 and FR20
   (1) Remove the sealant from the lower support-arm fittings (111) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Remove the nuts (112) and discard them.
   (3) Remove the screws (110).
   (4) Remove the lower support-arm fittings (111).

F. Removal of the Upper Support-Arm Fittings at FR16 and FR20
   (1) Remove the sealant from the upper support-arm fittings (121) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Remove the nuts (122) and discard them.
   (3) Remove the screws (120).
   (4) Remove the upper support-arm fittings (121).

G. Removal of the Door Stop Fittings
   (1) Remove the sealant around the door stop fitting (85) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Loosen the nut (82) and remove it.
   (3) Remove the lock plate (83) and discard it.
   (4) Remove the screw (86).
   (5) Loosen the screws (84) and remove them.
   (6) Remove the nuts (81).
Subtask 52-11-31-020-056-A
H. Removal of the Roller Fittings
   (1) Loosen the nuts (91) and remove them.
   (2) Remove the bolts (92).
   (3) Remove the roller fitting (90) from the door.
   (4) Disassemble the roller fitting (90) as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
     (a) Remove the cotter pin (93) and discard it.
     (b) Loosen the nut (94) and remove it.
     (c) Remove the washer (95).
     (d) Remove the bolt (96), roller assembly (97), spacer (98) and roller fitting (90).
Subtask 52-11-31-020-057-A
I. Removal of the Guide Arms Fittings
   (1) Disengage the guide arms (100) and (101) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-12-000-003).
   (2) Loosen the nuts (102) and remove them.
   (3) Remove the bolts (106) and the washers (103).
   (4) Remove the fitting pivots (105) and (108).
   (5) Remove the serrated plates (107) and (104).
