3. Job Set-up
Subtask 51-78-00-941-061-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connector from the battery.
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) No cleaning solution should be sprayed directly on the electrical connection.
Subtask 51-78-00-010-053-A
B. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the area of the leakage.
   (2) Remove the components from the area you will clean, to prevent contamination from water and/or cleaning agents.
NOTE: Make sure that all electrical outlets are covered to protect them from water.
   (3) Put plastic sheets over components and areas adjacent to the leakage.
   (4) Use a plastic container for used cloths and/or sponges.
4. Procedure
Subtask 51-78-00-110-053-A
A. Cleaning Procedure
   (1) Soak up the contamination with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) or a SPONGE.
   (2) In areas that you can not dry with a cloth use Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) .
   (3) Do the litmus paper test on the spilled fluid, acid turns blue litmus red and alkali turns red litmus blue.
NOTE: At 25 degree celcius acid has pH-value less than 7, neutral has pH-value 7 and alkali has pH-value greater than 7.
   (4) Prepare the necessary solution.
   (5) For alkali leakage mix a solution of 5 % BORIC ACID and water. Mix 50 g (1.76 oz) of BORIC ACID with 1 l (0.2642 USgal) of water to get the necessary solution.
   (6) For acid leakage mix a solution of 5 % SODIUM BICARBONATE (O-S-576) and water. Mix 50 g (1.76 oz) of SODIUM BICARBONATE (O-S-576) with 1 l (0.2642 USgal) of water to get the necessary solution.
   (7) Apply the solution to the dirty area with a BRUSH - NON METALLIC and/or lint-free cloth.
   (8) Apply the solution until the chemical reaction stops. Keep the solution on the surface for 5 min.
   (9) Remove the neutralized mixture with a cloth and/or a sponge.
   (10) Flush the area with clean water.
   (11) Use a BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT to remove the clean water.
   (12) Do a test to measure the pH-value of the leakage area.
   (13) Use PAPER - UNIVERSAL INDICATOR to do the test.
   (14) Make sure that the pH-value is not more than 7 and not less than 5.5.
   (15) You must do a test on areas where it is not easy to get access.
   (16) If the pH-valve is not correct clean the area again.
   (17) Dry the area with a HOT AIR SOURCE.
   (18) If necessary, repair corrosion damage (Ref. AMM TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
   (19) If necessary, repair the paint layers (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003).
   (20) If necessary, apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) to the area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-001).
   (21) If necessary, apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) to the area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
5. Close-up
Subtask 51-78-00-410-053-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Install all the components that were removed for the cleaning task.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
