4. Procedure
Subtask 51-78-00-110-050-A
A. Cleaning Procedure
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A METAL SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. A METAL SCRAPER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
   (1) Remove the loose materials with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC, a VACUUM EQUIPMENT 0 TO 0.4 BAR (6 PSI), or a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Flush the area with clean water.
   (3) Mix water and 10 % of the bicarbonate of soda or the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) to make a cleaning solution.
   (4) Clean the area with the cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (5) Flush the area with clean water.
   (6) Prepare one of the cleaning solutions that follow:
  • mix water with 5 % potassium bichromate and 0.5 % of the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1)
    or
  • mix water with 0.5 % of the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) .
   (7) Clean the area with the cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (8) Flush the area with clean water.
   (9) Dry the area with a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C(104 F).
   (10) If necessary, repair corrosion damage (Ref. AMM TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
