Removal of the Flush Valve
WARNING:
DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING:
ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
- ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
- ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WARNING:
WHEN YOU REMOVE A COMPONENT OF THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, ALWAYS DISINFECT THE PART BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG, THEN SEAL THE BAG.
DO NOT PUT DOCUMENTS INTO THE PLASTIC BAG. SEAL THE BAG FIRST,THEN ATTACH THE DOCUMENTS TO IT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION OR ILLNESS. CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
NOTE: The removal of the flush valve in the lavatories is the same.

D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that you do the depressurization of the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
(2) Open the lavatory door.
(3) Open the sanitary cabinet door.
(4) Close the potable-water shutoff valve.
(5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to open the potable-water shutoff valve.
(6) Remove the toilet shroud (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-802).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that you do the depressurization of the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
(2) Open the lavatory door.
(3) Open the sanitary cabinet door.
(4) Close the potable-water shutoff valve.
(5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to open the potable-water shutoff valve.
(6) Remove the toilet shroud (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-802).
Subtask 38-31-57-020-051-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Flush Valve Assembly
(2) Disconnect the electrical connectors:
(3) Disconnect the outlet elbow (5) from the waste water line (1):
(a) Unlock and remove the clamp (4).
(b) Move the sleeve (3) to one side.
(c) Remove and discard the packings (2).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(4) Remove the outlet elbow (5) from the flush valve assembly (13):
(a) Remove the nuts (6), the washers (7) and the bolts (12).
(b) Remove the outlet elbow (5) with the swivel plate (21).
(c) Remove and discard the packing (8).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(5) Remove the flush valve assembly (13) from the bowl elbow (15):
(a) Remove the nut (10) and the washer (9) from the housing support bracket (11).
(b) Disconnect the vent tube (20).
(c) Remove the nuts (16) and the washers (17).
(d) Remove the flush valve assembly (13) from the bowl elbow (15).
(e) Remove and discard the packing (14).
(f) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(6) If you use removed parts again, clean and disinfect them (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-510-001).
Subtask 38-31-57-020-051-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
(1) If necessary, remove the water valve (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-55-000-001). (2) Disconnect the electrical connectors:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (18) and (19). CAUTION:
TO PREVENT POSSIBLE CROSS-CONNECTION OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, MAKE SURE THAT PLUGS AND RECEPTACLES ARE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED.
(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.(3) Disconnect the outlet elbow (5) from the waste water line (1):
(a) Unlock and remove the clamp (4).
(b) Move the sleeve (3) to one side.
(c) Remove and discard the packings (2).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(4) Remove the outlet elbow (5) from the flush valve assembly (13):
(a) Remove the nuts (6), the washers (7) and the bolts (12).
(b) Remove the outlet elbow (5) with the swivel plate (21).
(c) Remove and discard the packing (8).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(5) Remove the flush valve assembly (13) from the bowl elbow (15):
(a) Remove the nut (10) and the washer (9) from the housing support bracket (11).
(b) Disconnect the vent tube (20).
(c) Remove the nuts (16) and the washers (17).
(d) Remove the flush valve assembly (13) from the bowl elbow (15).
(e) Remove and discard the packing (14).
(f) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(6) If you use removed parts again, clean and disinfect them (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-510-001).
A. Removal of the Flush Valve Assembly
(4) Cut and discard the cable-tie (26) from the vent tube (27).
(5) Remove the clamp (18).
(6) Move the sleeve (19) back on the pipe (20).
(7) Remove and discard the packings (17).
(8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(9) Removal of the outlet elbow (21) or (28):
(a) Remove the nuts (22) and the washers (23).
(b) Remove the nuts (15), the washers (14) and the bolts (11).
(c) Remove the swivel plate (16).
(d) Remove the outlet elbow (21) or (28).
(e) Remove and discard the packing (24).
(f) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(10) Removal of the vertical support (7):
(a) Remove the nuts (6) and the washers (10).
(b) Remove the nuts (9), washers (8), bolts (12) and the bracket (13).
(c) Remove the vertical support (7).
(11) Disengage the flush valve assembly (25) from the inlet elbow (2):
(a) Remove the nuts (3) and the washers (4).
(b) Disengage the flush valve assembly (25) from the inlet elbow (2).
(c) Remove and discard the packing (5).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(12) Remove the flush valve assembly (25).
(13) If you use removed parts again, clean and disinfect them (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-510-001).
Subtask 38-31-57-020-051-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
(1) If necessary, remove the water valve (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-55-000-001). CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Disconnect the electrical connector (1). NOTE: It is necessary to make match marks on the electrical connectors before you remove them.
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.(4) Cut and discard the cable-tie (26) from the vent tube (27).
(5) Remove the clamp (18).
(6) Move the sleeve (19) back on the pipe (20).
(7) Remove and discard the packings (17).
(8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(9) Removal of the outlet elbow (21) or (28):
(a) Remove the nuts (22) and the washers (23).
(b) Remove the nuts (15), the washers (14) and the bolts (11).
(c) Remove the swivel plate (16).
(d) Remove the outlet elbow (21) or (28).
(e) Remove and discard the packing (24).
(f) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(10) Removal of the vertical support (7):
(a) Remove the nuts (6) and the washers (10).
(b) Remove the nuts (9), washers (8), bolts (12) and the bracket (13).
(c) Remove the vertical support (7).
(11) Disengage the flush valve assembly (25) from the inlet elbow (2):
(a) Remove the nuts (3) and the washers (4).
(b) Disengage the flush valve assembly (25) from the inlet elbow (2).
(c) Remove and discard the packing (5).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(12) Remove the flush valve assembly (25).
(13) If you use removed parts again, clean and disinfect them (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-510-001).
A. Removal of the Flush Valve Assembly
(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(2) If necessary, remove the water valve (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-55-000-001).
(3) Disconnect the outlet elbow (16) from the waste water system as follows:
(a) Unlock and remove the clamp (9).
(b) Move the sleeve (8) away from the clamp (9).
(c) Remove the packings (7) and discard them.
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(4) Remove the outlet elbow (16) from the flush valve assembly (6) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (15) and the washers (14).
(b) Remove the outlet elbow (16) and the swivel plate (17) at the same time.
(c) Remove the packing (18) and discard it.
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(5) Disconnect the inlet elbow (10) from the toilet bowl (11) as follows:
(a) Push the locking pins (13) into the cam levers (12).
(b) Pull the cam levers (12) out of the toilet bowl (11).
(c) Disconnect the inlet elbow (10).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(6) Remove the quick-release fasteners (3) from the flush valve assembly (6).
(7) Remove the flush valve assembly (6) and the inlet elbow (10) from the toilet assembly at the same time.
(8) If you use the removed parts again, clean them with disinfectant (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-510-001).
WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors as follows:CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) and (5).(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(2) If necessary, remove the water valve (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-55-000-001).
(3) Disconnect the outlet elbow (16) from the waste water system as follows:
(a) Unlock and remove the clamp (9).
(b) Move the sleeve (8) away from the clamp (9).
(c) Remove the packings (7) and discard them.
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(4) Remove the outlet elbow (16) from the flush valve assembly (6) as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (15) and the washers (14).
(b) Remove the outlet elbow (16) and the swivel plate (17) at the same time.
(c) Remove the packing (18) and discard it.
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(5) Disconnect the inlet elbow (10) from the toilet bowl (11) as follows:
(a) Push the locking pins (13) into the cam levers (12).
(b) Pull the cam levers (12) out of the toilet bowl (11).
(c) Disconnect the inlet elbow (10).
(d) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(6) Remove the quick-release fasteners (3) from the flush valve assembly (6).
(7) Remove the flush valve assembly (6) and the inlet elbow (10) from the toilet assembly at the same time.
(8) If you use the removed parts again, clean them with disinfectant (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-510-001).
