Installation of the Portable Oxygen Cylinder

KEEP ALL HYDROCARBONS (FUELS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) AWAY FROM ALL SOURCE OF OXYGEN. OXYGEN BECOMES EXPLOSIVE WHEN IT TOUCHES HYDROCARBONS.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(3) For the location of the portable oxygen cylinder, refer to the Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 35-32-00-00).
(4) Make sure that the related doors are open, if applicable.
4. Procedure(1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(3) For the location of the portable oxygen cylinder, refer to the Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 35-32-00-00).
(4) Make sure that the related doors are open, if applicable.
Subtask 35-32-42-420-051-A
A. Installation of the Portable Oxygen Cylinder
(1) Make sure that the portable oxygen cylinder (1) is in serviceable condition:
(a) Do a visual inspection of the portable oxygen cylinder (1) and make sure that there are no signs of damage.
(b) Make sure that the portable oxygen cylinder (1) is in its service life limit.
(c) Read the pressure on the cylinder pressure gauge and make sure that the pressure is in the correct limits (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-210-002).
(2) If necessary, install the continuous flow mask (4) as follow:
(a) Remove the continuous flow mask (4) from the BAG - POLYTHENE.
(b) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from each disconnected line end.
(c) Examine the continuous flow mask (4) and make sure that:
1 The supply hose (8) has no:
4 If necessary clean the continuous flow mask (4), refer to the paragraph Mask Cleaning (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-00-710-001).
(d) Connect the connector (10) of the continuous flow mask (4) to the outlet (11) of the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(f) Carefully install the continuous flow mask (4) in the stowage bag (2) as follows:
1 Refer to the part number of the continuous flow mask (4) to find the related method how to stow the headband (6).
2 Fold the reservoir bag (5) into thirds and stow the headband (6) as shown in the applicable figures.
4 Wind the supply hose (8) clockwise into the inner side of the mask facepiece (7).
5 Push the supply hose (8) into the mask facepiece (7).
6 Fold the reservoir bag (5) again and put it into the inner space of the wound supply hose (8).
7 Carefully put the continuous flow mask (4) in the stowage bag (2).
8 Make sure that the opening of the mask facepiece (7) points away from the opening of the stowage bag (2).
9 Close the stowage bag (2).
10 Close the velcro strap (3) of the stowage bag (2) around the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(3) If you removed the spare mask (15), install it as follow:
(a) Remove the spare mask (15) from the BAG - POLYTHENE.
(b) Examine the spare mask (15) and make sure that:
1 The supply hose (8) has no:
4 If necessary clean the spare mask (15), refer to the paragraph Mask Cleaning (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-00-710-001).
5 Carefully install the spare mask (15) in the spare mask stowage-bag (13) as follows:
a You must put the spare mask (15) into the spare mask stowage-bag (13) without the sealed plastic bag.
b Refer to the part number of the spare mask (15) to find the related method how to stow the headband (6).
c Fold the reservoir bag (5) into thirds and stow the headband (6) as shown in the applicable figures.
e Wind the supply hose (8) into the inner side of the mask facepiece (7).
f Push the supply hose (8) into the mask facepiece (7).
g Fold the reservoir bag (5) again and put it into the inner space of the wound supply hose (8).
h Carefully put the spare mask (15) in the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
i Make sure that the opening of the mask facepiece (7) points away from the opening of the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
j Close the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
k Close the velcro strap (14) of the spare mask stowage-bag (13) around the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(4) Install the portable oxygen cylinder into its stowage position as follows:
(a) Install the portable oxygen cylinder (1) in position on the brackets (12).
(b) Close the quick release clamp (9).
(c) Make sure that the supply hose (8) is not caught between the quick release clamp (9) and the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(d) Make sure that you can easily read the pressure gage of the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(e) Make sure that there is a minimum distance of 6.0 mm (0.24 in.) between the portable oxygen cylinder (1) and the adjacent aircraft components.
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the portable oxygen cylinder (1) is in serviceable condition:
(a) Do a visual inspection of the portable oxygen cylinder (1) and make sure that there are no signs of damage.
(b) Make sure that the portable oxygen cylinder (1) is in its service life limit.
(c) Read the pressure on the cylinder pressure gauge and make sure that the pressure is in the correct limits (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-210-002).
(2) If necessary, install the continuous flow mask (4) as follow:
(a) Remove the continuous flow mask (4) from the BAG - POLYTHENE.
(b) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from each disconnected line end.
(c) Examine the continuous flow mask (4) and make sure that:
1 The supply hose (8) has no:
- Damage
- Permanent kinks
- Cracks
- Color changes.
- Damage
- Cracks
- Deformation
- Color changes.
4 If necessary clean the continuous flow mask (4), refer to the paragraph Mask Cleaning (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-00-710-001).
(d) Connect the connector (10) of the continuous flow mask (4) to the outlet (11) of the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
NOTE: If the portable oxygen cylinder has two or more outlets, the correct outlet to connect the connector of the continuous flow mask has the "HI" label.
NOTE: If the portable oxygen cylinder has two outlets without the "HI" label, the correct outlet to connect the connector of the continuous flow mask is the constant flow outlet.
(e) Do the operational test of the continuous flow mask (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-00-710-001). (f) Carefully install the continuous flow mask (4) in the stowage bag (2) as follows:
1 Refer to the part number of the continuous flow mask (4) to find the related method how to stow the headband (6).
2 Fold the reservoir bag (5) into thirds and stow the headband (6) as shown in the applicable figures.
NOTE: There are two possibilities to stow the headband.
3 Fold the reservoir bag (5) and put its end with the supply hose (8) into the mask facepiece (7). 4 Wind the supply hose (8) clockwise into the inner side of the mask facepiece (7).
5 Push the supply hose (8) into the mask facepiece (7).
6 Fold the reservoir bag (5) again and put it into the inner space of the wound supply hose (8).
7 Carefully put the continuous flow mask (4) in the stowage bag (2).
8 Make sure that the opening of the mask facepiece (7) points away from the opening of the stowage bag (2).
9 Close the stowage bag (2).
10 Close the velcro strap (3) of the stowage bag (2) around the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(3) If you removed the spare mask (15), install it as follow:
(a) Remove the spare mask (15) from the BAG - POLYTHENE.
(b) Examine the spare mask (15) and make sure that:
1 The supply hose (8) has no:
- Damage
- Permanent kinks
- Cracks
- Color changes.
- Damage
- Cracks

- Color changes.

k Close the velcro strap (14) of the spare mask stowage-bag (13) around the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(4) Install the portable oxygen cylinder into its stowage position as follows:
(a) Install the portable oxygen cylinder (1) in position on the brackets (12).
(b) Close the quick release clamp (9).
(c) Make sure that the supply hose (8) is not caught between the quick release clamp (9) and the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(d) Make sure that you can easily read the pressure gage of the portable oxygen cylinder (1).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Make sure that the portable oxygen cylinder(s) is (are) safely attached.
(3) If the related doors were opened during the removal, close them to close the access to the portable oxygen cylinder.
