A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) For the location of portable oxygen cylinder(s) refer to Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 35-32-00-00).
   (2) If necessary, open the related door(s) to get access to the portable oxygen cylinder(s).
   (3) If necessary, remove the portable oxygen cylinder(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 35-32-42-210-055-A
A. Visual Check of the Masks, the Flexible Hoses and the Pressure Gages of the Portable Oxygen Cylinders
NOTE: The related filling-ratio graphs give more information related to the available oxygen in the portable oxygen cylinders.
   (1) Calculate the quantity of oxygen necessary for each portable oxygen cylinder as follows:
     (a) Use the THERMOMETER 50 DEG C (122 DEG F) and measure the temperature near the portable oxygen cylinder.
     (b) Read the pressure on the pressure gage.
     (c) Calculate the correct pressure value as follows:
       1 Select the correct coefficient related to the temperature in the portable oxygen-cylinder area:

     (e) Record the quantity of oxygen in the portable oxygen cylinder.
   (2) You can ignore the steps that follow if you have an approved procedure to make sure that there is sufficient oxygen available before each flight given by the local airworthiness authorities:
     (a) Calculate the total quantity of oxygen in all the portable oxygen cylinders installed in the aircraft.
     (b) Make sure that the quantity of the available oxygen obeys the airworthiness instructions for the aircraft configurations.
   (3) Carefully remove each connected oxygen mask from the applicable stowage bag.
   (4) Make sure that oxygen mask is not disconnected from the related portable oxygen cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-000-001).
   (5) Make sure that:
  • The flexible hose of the oxygen mask has no damage, permanent kinks, cracks and/or discoloration.
  • The oxygen mask is clean and has no damage, cracks, deformation and/or discoloration.
   (6) Carefully put the oxygen mask into the stowage bag (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-400-001).

B. Filling of the Portable Oxygen Cylinder(s)
   (1) If the quantity of oxygen available is not sufficient, fill the applicable portable oxygen cylinder(s):
     (a) Remove the portable oxygen cylinder(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-000-001).
     (b) Send the portable oxygen cylinder(s) to the workshop and fill it (them) to the correct pressure.
     (c) Install the filled portable oxygen cylinder(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-400-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 35-32-42-410-057-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) If you removed the portable oxygen cylinder(s), install them (Ref. AMM TASK 35-32-42-400-001).
   (3) Close all doors.
Subtask 35-32-42-860-063-A
B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
