Removal of the Portable Oxygen Cylinder
WARNING:
KEEP ALL HYDROCARBONS (FUELS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) AWAY FROM ALL SOURCE OF OXYGEN. OXYGEN BECOMES EXPLOSIVE WHEN IT TOUCHES HYDROCARBONS.
WARNING:
CLEAN THE TOOLS AND MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND NATIONAL HAZARDOUS MATERIAL REGULATIONS WHEN YOU MOVE OR KEEP THIS EQUIPMENT IN STORAGE:
- CHEMICAL OXYGEN GENERATORS
- PROTECTIVE BREATHING EQUIPMENT
- FIXED AND PORTABLE OXYGEN CYLINDERS.

PUT DRY AND CLEAN METAL OR PLASTIC PLUGS ON ALL PIPES OR UNITS THAT YOU REMOVE TEMPORARILY. THEN PUT EACH PIPE OR UNIT IN A SEALED VINYL BAG. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, CONTAMINATION OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM CAN OCCUR.
NOTE: The portable oxygen cylinder for the cabin attendants has high-pressure oxygen cylinders and continuous flow masks.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
(2) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
(1) For the location of the portable oxygen cylinder, refer to the Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 35-32-00-00).
(2) If necessary, open the related doors to get access to the portable oxygen cylinder.

Subtask 35-32-42-020-051-A
A. Removal of the Portable Oxygen Cylinder
(1) Remove the portable oxygen cylinder from its stowage position:
(a) Open the quick release clamps (9) and remove the portable oxygen cylinder (1) with the stowage bag (2) from the brackets (12).
(2) If necessary, replace the continuous flow mask (4). To replace it, do the steps that follow:
(a) If the connector (10) of the continuous flow mask (4) is connected, disconnect it from the outlet (11) of the portable oxygen cylinder (1).
(b) Put the PLUG-BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN in each disconnected line end.
(c) Open the velcro strap (3) of the stowage bag (2).
(d) Open the stowage bag (2).
(e) Carefully remove the continuous flow mask (4) from the stowage bag (2).
(f) Put the continuous flow mask (4) into a BAG - POLYTHENE.
(3) If the spare mask (15) is installed, do the steps that follow:
(a) Open the velcro strap (14) of the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
(b) Open the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
(c) Carefully remove the spare mask (15) from the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
(d) Put the spare mask (15) into a BAG - POLYTHENE.
(4) To prepare the removed portable oxygen cylinder(s) for transportation, refer to the local and manufacturer's regulations.
(1) Remove the portable oxygen cylinder from its stowage position:
(a) Open the quick release clamps (9) and remove the portable oxygen cylinder (1) with the stowage bag (2) from the brackets (12).
(2) If necessary, replace the continuous flow mask (4). To replace it, do the steps that follow:

(a) Open the velcro strap (14) of the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
(b) Open the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
(c) Carefully remove the spare mask (15) from the spare mask stowage-bag (13).
(d) Put the spare mask (15) into a BAG - POLYTHENE.
(4) To prepare the removed portable oxygen cylinder(s) for transportation, refer to the local and manufacturer's regulations.
