3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the main landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the right center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear normal lever is in the DOWN position.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.

B. Get Access
   (1) Remove the MLG axle adaptor-sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-71-000-001).

A. Lubrication of MLG Axles and Axle Sleeves
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) If damage is found, refer to the applicable CMMs for damage limits and repair procedures.
   (5) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-General Purpose Medium Temp. - (Material No.03FBB1) , Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-Landing Gear Wheel Bearing Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GCB1) to the axle and to the inner face of the axle sleeve (zone E and zone F).
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (6) Make sure to apply grease to the interface between wheel axle and inner face of axle sleeve, adjacent to wheel axle brake flange (zone F).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Install the MLG axle adaptor-sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 32-42-71-400-001).

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
