A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Safety Precautions

Rigging Pins Location

(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Install the ground safety locks on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On right-center instrument panel 400VU:

Make sure that the landing-gear control lever is in the DOWN position.
Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

(4) On rudder/trim parking-brake panel 110VU, install the WEDGE - NON METALLIC on each side of the gravity gear extension-handle (1), to lock it in position.

C. Get Access
(1) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Install a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Rigging Pins

Rigging Pins Location

(1) Put the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN in location PIN 1.
(a) Make sure that the door-uplock input lever is locked.
(2) Put the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN in location PIN 2.
(a) Make sure that the bellcrank is locked.

B. Removal of the NLG Torque-Tube Assembly

NLG Torque-Tube Assembly

(1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (6) and (20).
(2) Remove the nut (7), washer (5) and bolt assembly (4).
(3) Disconnect the rod (23) from the rear end of the torque tube assembly (8).
(4) If necessary, remove the shouldered bushings (22) and (24) from the rear end of the torque tube assembly (8).
(5) Remove the nut (21), washer (19) and bolt assembly (15).
(6) Disconnect the rod (17) from the forward end of the torque tube assembly (8).
(7) If necessary, remove the shouldered bushings (16) and (18) from the forward end of the torque tube assembly (8).
(8) Remove and discard the cotter pin (11).
(9) Remove the nut (12) and the washer (13).
(10) Remove the nuts (10) and the bolts (9) and release the forward bearing assembly (14) from the bracket.
(11) Remove the forward end of the torque tube assembly (8) from its position.
(12) Remove the rear end of the torque tube assembly (8) from the rear bearing assembly (2).
(13) If necessary, remove the bolts (3) and the nuts (1) and release the rear bearing assembly (2) from its position.
