A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001)

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the right MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable main gear door actuator.

D. Put the Aircraft in the Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Remove the passenger seats between frame 35 and 47 as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 25-21-41-000-001).
   (2) Remove the floor covering between frame 35and 47 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-41-000-001).
   (3) Remove the cabin floor panels 242FF, 242LF and 241LF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-32-12-000-002).
   (4) Remove the MLG Free-Fall Extension Cables as follows:

     (a) Put match marks on the cables before you loosen them.
     (b) Loosen the turnbuckles (4) at view A
   (5) Remove the cables (1) and (2) from the torque tube assembly (21).
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Torque Tube Assembly
F Torque Tube Assembly
   (1) At views C and D:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (11).
     (b) Remove the castellated nuts (10).
     (c) Remove the washers (9).
     (d) Remove the bolts (7) and the bushes (8).
     (e) Remove the control rods (5) and (16) from the torque tube assembly (21).
   (2) At view E:
     (a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the nuts (19) and the bolts (20).
     (b) Remove the nuts (19) and the bolts (20).
   (3) At view F:
     (a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the nuts (15) and the bolts (12).
     (b) Remove the nuts (15) and the bolts (12).
   (4) Remove the torque tube assembly (21).
