Removal of the Protective Cover of the Swivel Bearing

A. Get Access
   (1) Lift the aircraft at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
   (2) Open access doors 812, 822 and 824 to get access to the hinge points of the NLG (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123.
   (4) If necessary, remove the avionics-equipment ventilation-duct (Ref. AMM TASK 21-26-42-000-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-24-020-054-B
A. Removal of the Protective Cover of the Swivel Bearing
   (1) If you cannot remove one or more bolts (7) because of the load on the NLG:
     (a) Make sure that the shock absorber is not compressed.
NOTE: During the removal of the protective cover, one bolt must always stay installed to prevent the movement of the bearing.
   (2) Remove the cotter pins (2), nuts (1), washers (3) and one of the four installed bolts (7).
   (3) Through the nose gear compartment, install the removed bolt (7) in the opposite direction through the swivel bearing and airframe to prevent the movement of the bearing.
   (4) Remove the remaining three bolts (7), the protective cover (6), the O-rings (4) and (5) and discard the O-rings.
