WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR ARE CLEAR.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) In the cockpit, on the right center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control lever is in the DOWN position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear.
   (2) On the panel RUD TRIM/PARKING BRK panel 110VU:
  • Make sure that the free-fall control handle is in the usual position.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate them.
   (2) Put SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (3) Make sure that the D23080000 PIN-GROUND LOCK,NLG or MZ23080000 PIN-LOCKING as an alternative is in position.
   (4) Make sure that the 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is in position.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the main doors of the nose gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-00-220-051-A
A. Inspection of the NLG Upper-Support Anti-Rotation Lugs and Cylinder Lugs
   (1) Put the BORESCOPE DIA 5.0 MM (7/32 IN) - FLEXIBLE probe in the vent hole at the top of the NLG barrel (rear side) to:
  • Examine the upper-support anti-rotation lugs and cylinder lugs.
   (2) Make sure that the upper-support anti-rotation lugs are not broken and/or the cylinder lugs are not missing.
   (3) If the upper support anti-rotation lugs are broken or cracked and/or the cylinder lugs are missing, do the steps that follow:
NOTE: The borescope inspection is to make sure that the upper-support anti-rotation lugs are not broken or cracked and the cylinder lugs are not missing.
     (a) Record the:
  • Shock absorber pressure, temperature and H dimension with the aircraft on wheels
  • Shock absorber pressure and temperature with the aircraft on jacks
    (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-32-614-004).
     (b) Remove the BORESCOPE DIA 5.0 MM (7/32 IN) - FLEXIBLE probe from the vent hole at the top of the NLG barrel (rear side).
     (c) Remove the NLG leg assembly for overhaul inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-11-000-003).
     (d) Install the serviceable NLG leg assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-11-400-003).
5. Close-up

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 32-21-00-410-056-A
B. Close Access
   (1) Close the main doors of the nose gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
