A. Installation of the Display Unit (DU)
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) In the housing of the DU (2), make sure that the ventilation air inlet (7) is in the correct condition (flexible seal installed and duct not blocked).
   (4) Make sure that the locking studs (5) and the movable locking hooks (6) are not damaged.
   (5) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (1).
   (6) Make sure that the electrical connectors (1) are in the correct condition.
   (7) Install the DU (2) in the open panel.
   (8) Move down the handle (3) fully down to the bottom of the screen.
   (9) Push the DU (2) until the locking studs (5) touch the movable locking hooks (6) (make sure that the front face of the DU (2) comes out of the panel approximately 30 mm (1.18 in.)).
   (10) Push on the two sides of the DU (2) to connect the electrical connector (1). Let the handle (3) move freely up until it is at the level of the locking catches (4) (the DU is now aligned with the panel).
   (11) Slowly and continuously move the handle (3) to its maximum up position. In this position the two locking catches (4) are locked below the handle (3).
   (12) FOR [2WT1] (PFD-CAPT), [3WT1] (ND-CAPT)
Install the thermoformed cover on the CAPT main instrument panel.
   (13) FOR [2WT2] (PFD-F/O), [3WT2] (ND-F/O)
Install the thermoformed cover on the F/O main instrument panel.
   (14) FOR [4WT1] (DU-ECAM, UPPER), [4WT2] (DU-ECAM, LOWER)
Install the thermoformed cover on the center instrument panel.

B. Return-to-service in Hot and very Humid Conditions
NOTE: In hot and very humid conditions, it is necessary to apply the precaution that follows before you energize the DU.
   (1) After the installation of the DU on the aircraft, wait 15 minutes before you energize the DU. During this period the avionics ventilation system operates to remove the internal condensation.

D. Check of the Software Update
ACTION
RESULT
Wait for 40 seconds.
  • Look at the screen of the installed DU.

  • If the operational image comes into view on the screen of the installed DU:
  • Go to the next paragraph (operational test of the EIS) and ignore the four steps that follow.
  • If amber message DISPLAY SYSTEM VERSION INCONSISTENCY comes into view on the installed CAPT PFD, CAPT ND, upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU:
  • If amber message DISPLAY SYSTEM VERSION INCONSISTENCY comes into view on the installed F/O PFD or F/O ND:
  • If the large E (in white) comes into view on the installed CAPT PFD, CAPT ND, upper ECAM DU or lower ECAM DU:
  • If the large E (in white) comes into view on the installed F/O PFD or F/O ND:
Do the X LOADING procedure of DMC2 (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-610-002).

E. Reset of the Display Management Computer (DMC)
   (1) On the center pedestal, on SWITCHING panel 8VU:
  • Make sure that the EIS DMC and ECAM/ND XFR selector switches are in the NORM position.
   (2) Wait for 40 seconds and look at the screen of the installed DU. If the DU shows a maintenance pattern, do a reset of the DMC as follows:
  • For the CAPT PFD, CAPT ND or upper ECAM DU, open and close EIS/DMC1/SPLY circuit breaker 10WT1 on overhead circuit-breaker panel 49VU.
  • For the F/O PFD, F/O ND or lower ECAM DU, open and close EIS/DMC2/SPLY circuit breaker 10WT2 on rear circuit-breaker panel 121VU.
Subtask 31-63-22-740-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Automatic Check of the Software Update
After the installation of the DU, an automatic check occurs to make sure that the DMC and the DU have the same software version.
If they do not have the same version, a teleloading procedure occurs. During this procedure, a TELELOADING message comes into view on the DU for 10 seconds.
