A. Examine the seal (55) to make sure that it is serviceable.
Subtask 30-21-49-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL B. Installation of the Forward Anti-ice Duct
(1) Remove the blanking plugs from the anti-ice ducts, and the anti-ice valve.
(2) Remove the protective covers from the hoses and the two ends of the forward muscle pressure tube.
(4) Attach the support links (80) to the forward anti-ice duct (65) support brackets. Use the bolts (70), washers (75), and nuts (85). Do not torque the nuts at this time.
(6) TORQUE the support link nuts (85) to between 140 and 100 lbf.in (1.58 and 1.13 m.daN )
.
(7) TORQUE the coupling nut (60) as follows:
(a) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(b) Lightly hit the perimeter of the coupling in several places. Use a HAMMER - FIBER , not a metal hammer.
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) above two more times. Then do step (1) again.
(8) Install the forward muscle pressure tube (20).
(a) Loosely install the tube (20) on the forward anti-ice duct (65) support bracket with the bulkhead nut (10) and the washer (15).
(b) TORQUE the bulkhead nut (10) on the tube (65) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
.
(d) TORQUE the nuts (35) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
.
(e) Connect the two hoses (5) and (40) to the tube (20).
(f) TORQUE the hose (5) coupling nuts to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
.
(g) TORQUE the hose (40) coupling nuts to between 160 and 150 lbf.in (1.81 and 1.70 m.daN )
.
Subtask 30-21-49-790-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the blanking plugs from the anti-ice ducts, and the anti-ice valve.
(2) Remove the protective covers from the hoses and the two ends of the forward muscle pressure tube.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts that attach the anti-ice duct or the couplings that connect the duct until the duct is installed in the correct position.
(3) Connect the forward anti-ice duct (65) to the anti-ice valve (4000DN), use the coupling (60) and a AIPC 30-21-49-01-130 E-SEAL (55) or AIPC 30-21-51-01-020 E-SEAL (55). Tighten the coupling sufficiently to hold the anti-ice duct in position. (4) Attach the support links (80) to the forward anti-ice duct (65) support brackets. Use the bolts (70), washers (75), and nuts (85). Do not torque the nuts at this time.
NOTE: Nominal length of the support links is 2.62 in. (66.6 mm).
(5) Make sure that the index marks on the forward duct (65) and the anti-ice valve are aligned. Adjust the support links (80), as necessary, so they do not put a load on the anti-ice ducts. Make sure the anti-ice ducts are correctly aligned before the coupling (60) nuts are torqued.
(b) TORQUE the bulkhead nut (10) on the tube (65) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
. NOTE: Hold the muscle tube (20) fitting with a second wrench when you torque the bulkhead nut (10).
(c) Put the two clamps (45) on the tube (20). Attach the clamps to the anti-ice duct (65) tangs with the bolts (25), the washers (30), and the nuts (35). (d) TORQUE the nuts (35) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
. (e) Connect the two hoses (5) and (40) to the tube (20).
(f) TORQUE the hose (5) coupling nuts to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
. (g) TORQUE the hose (40) coupling nuts to between 160 and 150 lbf.in (1.81 and 1.70 m.daN )
. NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fittings on the forward muscle pressure tube when you torque the hose coupling nuts.
