A. As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
Subtask 29-22-53-860-080-A (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
- In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel.
- On the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
Subtask 29-22-53-010-060-A WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the access door 195BB.
(2) Open the left main landing-gear door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(3) Remove the access panel 147BB.
(4) Remove the access panel 147CB.
(5) Extend the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
Subtask 29-22-53-865-076-A (1) Open the access door 195BB.
(2) Open the left main landing-gear door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(3) Remove the access panel 147BB.
(4) Remove the access panel 147CB.
(5) Extend the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).

Subtask 29-22-53-020-060-A
A. Removal of the RAT Actuator (1GE)
(2) Remove the screw (5) from the protective cover (2).
(3) Remove the protective cover (2) from the RAT compartment (4).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connectors (25), (28), (33), (34), (38) from their receptacles.
(5) Put the CAP - PROTECTION on the disconnected electrical connectors and the receptacles.
(6) Remove the screw (35), the washer (36) and the bonding strap (37).
(7) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic connections to collect unwanted fluid.
(8) Loosen the union nuts (29) and (30) and remove the hydraulic hoses from the ports.
(9) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected line ends.
(10) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the ports of the RAT actuator.
(11) Remove the nut (46), the washer (45), the washers (41) and the bolt (42) from the forked mounting (43).
(12) Disengage the eye-end (44) of the RAT actuator (27) from the forked mounting (43).
(13) Remove and discard the cotter pins (11) and (17).
(14) Remove the nuts (10) and (16) together with the washers (9), (15).
(15) Hold the RAT actuator (27).
(16) Remove the nuts (6) and the washers (7).
(17) Carefully remove the gimbal half (5).
(18) Carefully remove the remaining gimbal half (14) together with the bolts (13) and the washers (12).
(20) Remove the bolts (19) and (20) from the structure (8) and (18).
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
(1) Loosen the screws (1) from the quick-release fasteners (3). (2) Remove the screw (5) from the protective cover (2).
(3) Remove the protective cover (2) from the RAT compartment (4).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connectors (25), (28), (33), (34), (38) from their receptacles.
(5) Put the CAP - PROTECTION on the disconnected electrical connectors and the receptacles.
(6) Remove the screw (35), the washer (36) and the bonding strap (37).
(7) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic connections to collect unwanted fluid.
(8) Loosen the union nuts (29) and (30) and remove the hydraulic hoses from the ports.
(9) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected line ends.
(10) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the ports of the RAT actuator.
(11) Remove the nut (46), the washer (45), the washers (41) and the bolt (42) from the forked mounting (43).
(12) Disengage the eye-end (44) of the RAT actuator (27) from the forked mounting (43).
(13) Remove and discard the cotter pins (11) and (17).
(14) Remove the nuts (10) and (16) together with the washers (9), (15).
(15) Hold the RAT actuator (27).
(16) Remove the nuts (6) and the washers (7).
(17) Carefully remove the gimbal half (5).
(18) Carefully remove the remaining gimbal half (14) together with the bolts (13) and the washers (12).
NOTE: Retain the gimbal halves for the replacement component.
(19) Carefully lower and remove the RAT actuator (27) from the RAT stowage area. (20) Remove the bolts (19) and (20) from the structure (8) and (18).
