3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-16-11-010-051-A
A. Open the access panel 197CB.
Subtask 29-16-11-860-050-A
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit on the hydraulic panel 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Put the CONTAINER 2 L (0.53 USGAL) under the filter to collect any hydraulic fluid.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-16-11-020-050-A
A. Removal of the Filter Element
   (1) Cut and remove the lockwire between the filter bowl (3) and the filter head (1).
   (2) Remove the filter bowl (3) together with the filter element (2).
   (3) Remove the filter element (2) together with its O-ring from the filter bowl (3).
   (4) Discard the filter element (2) and the O-ring.
Subtask 29-16-11-560-050-A
B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Lubricate the O-ring (7) of the new AIPC 29-16-11-01-020 FILTER ELEMENT (2) with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
NOTE: The O-ring (7) is part of the filter element (2).
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the filter bowl (3) with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
   (3) If the red clogging indicator (4) is out, push it in to set it again.
Subtask 29-16-11-420-050-A
C. Installation of the Filter Element
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a check of the filter element (2) and make sure that it is clean and not damaged.
   (4) Install the filter element (2), together with its O-ring, in the filter bowl (3).
   (5) Engage the filter bowl (3) in the filter head (1) and tighten it.
NOTE: Tighten the filter bowl with your hands only.
Subtask 29-16-11-790-051-A
D. Test of the Filter Assembly
   (1) Remove the blanking cap from the reservoir fill valve 1698GM.
   (2) Connect the flexible hose 1699GM to the fill valve.
   (3) Put the end of the flexible hose into a container of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir filling selector 1134GQ is set to 'N'.
   (5) Operate the hand pump through three or four cycles to pressurize the filter.
NOTE: A Pressure relief valve in the filling selector valve will operate if too much pressure is put into the system. If this happens, a small amount of fluid will go into the reservoir of the Yellow system.
   (6) Make sure that no fluid comes out of the filter.
   (7) Make sure that the clogging indicator stays in.
   (8) Momentarily set the reservoir filling selector to any one of the reservoir positions (G, Y or B) to release the hydraulic pressure.
   (9) Set the reservoir filling selector to position 'N'.
   (10) Disconnect the flexible hose and put it into its position in the ground service panel of the Green system.
   (11) Install the blanking cap on the reservoir fill valve.
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-16-11-860-051-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Safety the filter bowl (3) to the filter head (1) with lockwire 0.8 mm (0.032 in.).
