Removal of the Self Sealing Half-Coupling of the Yellow Pump Suction

CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

(1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)

B. Safety Precautions
(1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:

Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.

(2) Open access door 198CB.
(a) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system on the ground service panel.
(3) On the HYD section of panel 40VU:

Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.

(4) Open access door 195BB:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(5) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
(1) Open the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-39-020-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Self Sealing Half-Coupling of the Yellow Pump Suction

CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:

ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.

THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.

(1) Put a CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the hydraulic connections to collect the remaining fluid.
(2) Disconnect the hose half-coupling (6) from the self sealing half-coupling (3).
(3) Remove and discard the retainer (5) and the packing (4) from the fluid disconnect panel (3).
(4) Remove the self sealing half-coupling (3) from the pylon fuel-hydraulic panel (1).
(5) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the self sealing half-coupling (3).
(6) Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected hose half-coupling (6) and the port of the pylon fuel-hydraulic panel (1).
