Removal of the Hydraulic Case Drain Tubes and Hoses

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Open access door 197CB.
     (a) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system on the ground service panel.
   (3) On the HYD section of panel 40VU:
  • Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
   (4) Open access door 195BB:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system.
   (5) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-49-020-124-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Hydraulic Case Drain Tubes and Hoses
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic connections.
   (2) Removal of the hydraulic case drain tubes and hose
     (a) Remove the bolt (8) and washer (9) that attach the clamp (10) and the gearbox case drain tube (7) to the accessory gearbox
(sheet 3/10).
     (b) Remove the bolt (8) and washer (9) that attach the clamp (10) and the gearbox case drain tube (7) to the angled gearbox
(sheet 3/10).
     (c) Remove the nut (18), two washers (17), and bolt (16) that attach the clamp (10) and the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) to the case drain bracket
(sheet 5/10 - detail F).
     (d) Remove the nut (18), two washers (17), and bolt (16) that attach the clamp (10) and the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) to the bracket
(sheet 5/10 - detail G).
     (e) Remove the bolt (19) and washer (20) that attach the clamp (10) and the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) to the bracket
(sheet 6/10 - detail H).
     (f) Remove the two bolts (19) and two washers (20) that attach the two clamps (10) and the filter case drain tube (21) to the two brackets
(sheet 6/10 - detail J).
     (g) Remove the bolt (19) and washer (20) that attach the clamp (10) and the filter case drain tube (21) to the case drain bracket
(sheet 8/10 - detail L).
     (h) Remove the bolt (19) and washer (20) that attach the clamp (10) and the filter case drain tube (21) to the case drain bracket
(sheet 8/10 - detail M).
     (i) Remove the bolt (19) and washer (20) that attach the clamp (10) and the filter case drain tube (22) to the case drain bracket
(sheet 9/10 - detail N).
     (j) Remove the bolt (19) and washer (20) that attach the clamp (10) and the filter case drain tube (22) to the filter case drain bracket
(sheet 9/10 - detail N).
     (k) Removal of the hydraulic-pump case-drain hose (1)
(sheet 2/10 - detail B) and (sheet 3/10 - detail C)
       1 Disconnect the hydraulic-pump case-drain hose (1) from the elbow on the hydraulic pump.
       2 Disconnect the hydraulic-pump case-drain hose (1) from the gearbox case-drain tube (7).
       3 Remove the hydraulic-pump case-drain hose (1) from the engine.
     (l) Removal of the gearbox case-drain tube (7)
(sheet 3/10 - detail C)
       1 Disconnect the gearbox case-drain tube (7) from the lower bifurcation case-drain tube (11).
       2 Remove the gearbox case-drain tube (7) from the engine.
       3 Remove the two clamps (10) from the gearbox case-drain tube (7).
     (m) Removal of the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11)
(sheet 4/10 - details D and E)
       1 Remove the firewall covers.
       2 Disconnect the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11) from the bulkhead fitting (14) on the firewall bulkhead.
       3 Remove the two bolts from the two line block frames and open the line block frames.
       4 Remove the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11) from the two line blocks and the engine.
       5 Close the two line block frames and install the two bolts. Do not torque the bolts at this time.
     (n) Removal of the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15)
(sheet 4/10 - detail E) and (sheet 7/10 - detail K)
       1 Disconnect the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) from the bulkhead fitting (14) on the firewall bulkhead.
       2 Disconnect the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) from the filter case drain tube (21).
       3 Remove the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) from the engine.
       4 Remove the three clamps (10) from the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15).
     (o) Removal of the filter case drain tube (21)
(sheet 7/10 - detail K)
       1 Disconnect the filter case drain tube (21) from the filter case drain tube (22).
       2 Remove the filter case drain tube (21) from the engine.
       3 Remove the three clamps (10) from the filter case drain tube (21).
     (p) Removal of the filter case drain tube (22)
(sheet 9/10 - detail N)
       1 Disconnect the filter case drain tube (22) from the union (23) on the hydraulic filter.
       2 Remove the filter case drain tube (22) from the engine.
       3 Remove the two clamps (10) from the filter case drain tube (22).
   (3) Removal of the pylon case drain hose (26)
(sheet 10/10 - detail Q)
     (a) Disconnect the pylon case drain hose (26) from the elbow (27) on the pylon.
     (b) Disconnect the pylon case drain hose (26) from the pylon drain tube (25).
     (c) Remove the pylon case drain hose (26) from the engine.
   (4) Removal of the pylon case drain tube (25)
(sheet 9/10 - detail N) and (sheet 10/10 - detail P)
     (a) Disconnect the pylon case drain tube (25) from the union (23) on the hydraulic filter.
     (b) Remove the three bolts (19) and three washers (20) that attach the three clamps (10) and the pylon case drain tube (25) to the three brackets.
     (c) Remove the pylon case drain tube (25) from the engine.
     (d) Remove the three clamps (10) from the pylon case drain tube (25).
   (5) If necessary, remove the elbow (27) from the pylon.
(sheet 10/10 - detail P)
   (6) If necessary, remove the bulkhead fitting from the firewall.
(sheet 4/10 - detail E).
     (a) Remove the fitting nut (12), two washers (13) and bulkhead fitting (14) from the firewall bulkhead.
   (7) If necessary, remove the two unions (23) from the hydraulic filter
(sheet 9/10 - detail N).
     (a) Remove the two packings (24) from the unions (23).
     (b) Discard the packings (24).
   (8) Make sure that you install protective covers on the pylon interface, hydraulic filter ports, hydraulic pump port and the hydraulic case drain tubes and hoses.
