Subtask 29-10-00-860-057-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure the aircraft is in this configuration:
  • speed brakes and spoilers retracted
  • thrust reversers off (closed)
  • cargo compartment door closed
  • all accumulators empty of fluid and pressurized with nitrogen to the correct pressure
  • reservoirs pressurized to 50 psig
  • landing gear extended with the doors closed (one main door of the main gear can be open)
  • the position of the other hydraulic services is not important.
   (2) Depressurize the Green and Blue hydraulic systems, but not the reservoirs (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and Blue hydraulic systems:
  • In the cockpit, on hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel
  • On the ground service panels of the Green and Blue hydraulic systems.
Subtask 29-10-00-010-054-A
B. Get Access
   (1) Open one main door of the main landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
NOTE: You can open the RH or LH door, but the access is better from the RH side.
   (2) Open the access doors 196BB 197FB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-10-00-210-051-A
A. Check of the Fluid Level in the Hydraulic Reservoirs
   (1) Look at the contents indicator on the Yellow reservoir and make sure that:
     (a) With the brake accumulator empty of fluid and precharged with nitrogen, it shows between 15 l (3.9625 USgal) and 16 l (4.2267 USgal).
   (2) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (3) Look at the contents indicator on the Yellow reservoir and make sure that:
     (a) With the brake accumulator full of fluid at system working pressure, it shows between 12 l (3.1700 USgal) and 13 l (3.4342 USgal).
NOTE: The hydraulic fluid volume in the reservoirs can change with the temperature. For each 10 DEG.C scale Celcius (which is each 18 DEG.F on the scale Fahrenheit) change in outside air temperature:
  • The volume in the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system can change by 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal).
NOTE: If the temperature is above 20 DEG.C (68 DEG.F) the quantity indicator pointer must be in the top half of the related scale range.
   (4) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001).
   (5) Look at the contents indicator on these reservoirs and make sure that it shows:
  • Green reservoir - between 14 l (3.6984 USgal) and 15 l (3.9625 USgal)
  • Blue reservoir - between 6 l (1.5850 USgal) and 6.5 l (1.7171 USgal).
NOTE: The hydraulic fluid volume in the reservoirs can change with the temperature. For each 10 DEG.C scale Celcius (which is each 18 DEG.F on the scale Fahrenheit) change in outside air temperature:
  • The volume in the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system can change by 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal)
  • The volume in the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system can change by 0.25 l (0.0660 USgal).
NOTE: If the temperature is above 20 DEG.C (68 DEG.F) the quantity indicator pointer must be in the top half of the related scale range.
   (6) If the contents of the reservoirs are not correct, fill or drain the reservoir(s) as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-10-00-410-054-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the main door of the main landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (3) Close the access doors 196BB 197FB.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
