Removal of the Torque Shafts

  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever.

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in the applicable position.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel:
     (a) FOR [6216CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)

     (b) FOR [6226CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
remove 575DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004)
     (c) FOR [6266CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
remove 673CB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-002)
     (d) FOR [6276CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
remove 675DB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004).
   (3) Put the applicable spoiler in the 'M' (Maintenance) position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (4) Put the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER on the piston rod of the servo-control.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
Subtask 27-54-45-020-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Torque Shafts
   (1) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to a flap torque shaft, outboard of the component that you remove (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
   (2) Remove and discard the nuts (59).
   (3) Remove the bolts (60) and the torque shaft (58).
   (4) Remove the universal joint (57).
Subtask 27-54-45-020-057-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Torque Shafts 6216CM(6266CM) and 6226CM(6276CM)
   (1) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT to a flap torque shaft, outboard of the component that you remove (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
   (2) Remove and discard the nuts (59).
   (3) Remove the bolts (60) and the torque shaft (58).
   (4) Remove the plunging joint (57).
