Installation of the Lower Claw Stop
WARNING:

- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the access door 312AR.
(2) Make sure that the access door 312AR is open.
(3) Make sure that the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment is in the zero position.
(4) Make sure that the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING is installed on the pitch-trim control wheel.
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the pitch controls.
(6) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(7) Make sure that the warning notices are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green, the Yellow and the Blue hydraulic systems:
Subtask 27-44-51-865-058-A (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the access door 312AR.
(2) Make sure that the access door 312AR is open.
(3) Make sure that the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment is in the zero position.
(4) Make sure that the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING is installed on the pitch-trim control wheel.
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the pitch controls.
(6) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(7) Make sure that the warning notices are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green, the Yellow and the Blue hydraulic systems:
- in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
- on the ground service panels of the Green, the Yellow and the Blue hydraulic systems.
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

A. Installation of the Lower Claw Stop without a Brake Nut
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) If you removed the keys (118), install them.
(4) Make sure that the studs (119) are in position in the keys (118).
(5) Put the lower claw stop (112) in position (refer to the mark made during the removal).
(6) Install the screws (114) with the washers (113).
(7) TORQUE the screws (114) to between 0.41 and 0.33 m.daN (36.28 and 29.20 lbf.in )

(10) Install the springwasher (115), the new27445106-050 TABWASHER THE SPRINGWASHER (115) MUST TOUCH THE 116 and the nut (117) onto the fail-safe tie-bar (111).
with the 0U145409 SPECIAL WRENCH.
(12) Safety the nut (117) with the tabwasher (116).

USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(8) Safety the screws (114): - Safety the screws (114) with
.14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -
(10) Install the springwasher (115), the new
NOTE: The outer top end of the springwasher (115) must touch the claw stop (112). The inner bottom end of the springwasher (115) must touch the tabwasher (116).
(11) TORQUE the nut (117) to between 6.0 and 5.0 m.daN (44.25 and 36.87 lbf.ft )
with the 0U145409 SPECIAL WRENCH. (12) Safety the nut (117) with the tabwasher (116).
B. Installation of the Lower Claw Stop with a Brake Nut
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) If you removed the keys (118), install them.
(4) Make sure that the studs (119) are in position in the keys (118).
(5) Put the lower claw stop (112) in position (refer to the mark made during the removal).
(6) Install the screws (114) with the washers (113).
(7) TORQUE the screws (114) to between 0.41 and 0.33 m.daN (36.28 and 29.20 lbf.in )

(10) Install the springwasher (115), the brake nut (121), the new AIPC 27-44-51-06-055 TABWASHER (116) and the nut (117) onto the fail-safe tie-bar (111).
(12) Safety the nut (117) with the tabwasher (116).
Subtask 27-44-51-860-059-A (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) If you removed the keys (118), install them.
(4) Make sure that the studs (119) are in position in the keys (118).
(5) Put the lower claw stop (112) in position (refer to the mark made during the removal).
(6) Install the screws (114) with the washers (113).
(7) TORQUE the screws (114) to between 0.41 and 0.33 m.daN (36.28 and 29.20 lbf.in )

(8) Safety the screws (114): - Safety the screws (114) with
.14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -
(10) Install the springwasher (115), the brake nut (121), the new AIPC 27-44-51-06-055 TABWASHER (116) and the nut (117) onto the fail-safe tie-bar (111).
NOTE: The outer top end of the springwasher (115) must touch the claw stop (112). The inner bottom end of the springwasher (115) must touch the brake nut (121).
(11) Tighten the nut (117) to get dimension A from 1.45 mm (0.057 in.) to 1.7 mm (0.067 in.) between the bottom end of the claw stop (112) and the top end of the brake nut (121). (12) Safety the nut (117) with the tabwasher (116).
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER from the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
(2) Remove the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING from the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
Subtask 27-44-51-865-059-A (1) Remove the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER from the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
(2) Remove the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING from the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Test
(2) Turn the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment and put the THS actuator to the 13.5 deg. UP position.
(3) Make sure that the distance (dimension X) between the lower claw stop (112) and the nut assembly (120) is not less than 11 mm (0.43 in.).
(4) Turn the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment and put the THS actuator to the zero position.
(5) Depressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).
5. Close-upWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Pressurize the Green and the Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001). (2) Turn the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment and put the THS actuator to the 13.5 deg. UP position.
(3) Make sure that the distance (dimension X) between the lower claw stop (112) and the nut assembly (120) is not less than 11 mm (0.43 in.).
(4) Turn the pitch-trim control wheel in the flight compartment and put the THS actuator to the zero position.
(5) Depressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the access door 312AR.
(3) Remove the access platform.
