3. Job Set-up
Subtask 27-41-45-860-052-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the access door 312AR..
   (2) Make sure that the access door 312AR is opened.
   (3) According to the aircraft configuration during the maintenance phase, make sure that:
   (4) Make sure that the locking clips are removed and the turnbuckles of the THS cables are released.
   (5) Make sure that there is no tension on the THS control cables.
   (6) Make sure that the Green and the Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized and in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (7) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and the Yellow hydraulic systems.
   (8) Make sure that the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING is installed in the pitch trim control wheel.
   (9) Make sure that the 98D27407532000 RIGGING PIN - THS MECHANICAL CONTROL is installed in the rocker assembly of the regulator.

C. Preparation for the Installation
   (1) Examine the parts of the drive shaft assembly for damage.
   (2) Examine the upper chain cover assembly (6), (7), (17) for damage.
   (3) Examine the lower chain cover assembly (41), (48) for damage.
   (4) Examine the sprocket (11) for damage.
   (5) Examine the needle bearings (38) for damage.
   (6) Make sure that the bolts and nuts are clean and not damaged.
   (7) Examine the bracket (37) for damage.
   (8) Make sure that the THS control cables are not damaged (Ref. AMM TASK 20-24-12-200-001).
   (9) Make sure that there is no corrosion on the THS control cables (Ref. AMM TASK 20-24-11-100-001).
   (10) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (11) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
4. Procedure
Subtask 27-41-45-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Drive Shaft Assy
   (1) Assemble the bracket assembly:
     (a) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-General Purpose Medium Temp. - (Material No.03FBB1) to the needle bearings (38).
     (b) Push the needle bearings (38) into the bracket (37).
     (c) Put the flange (39) in position on the bracket (37).
     (d) Install the screws (40) and tighten them.
     (e) Safety the screws (40) with 14QDB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (f) Put the chain guard (7) in position on the chain guard base plate (6) and install and tighten the screws (8).
     (g) Install the chain guard base plate (6) on the bracket (37) with the bolts (5), the washers (36), and the nuts (35).
     (h) Tighten the nuts (35).
     (i) Safety the nut (35) with the new AIPC 27-41-04-04-300 COTTER PIN (34) or AIPC 27-41-84-07-050 COTTER PIN (34).
   (2) Assemble the drive shaft assy:
     (a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) on the bolts (26).
     (b) Install the two swivel plates (24) on the drive shaft (25) with the bolts (26), the spacers (20), the washers (23), and the nuts (22).
     (c) TORQUE the nuts (22) to between 0.88 and 0.72 m.daN (77.88 and 63.72 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Safety the nuts (22) with the new
AIPC 27-41-04-04-150 COTTER PINS (21) or AIPC 27-41-84-07-110 COTTER PINS (21).
     (e) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) on the bolts (18).
     (f) Install the link plate (30) on the swivel plate (24) with the bolts (18), the spacers (20), the washers (23), and the nuts (22).
     (g) TORQUE the nuts (22) to between 0.88 and 0.72 m.daN (77.88 and 63.72 lbf.in ) T
     (h) Safety the nuts (22) with the new cotter pins (21).
     (i) Install the sprocket shaft (19) on the swivel plate (24) with the bolts (18), the spacers (20), the washers (23), and the nuts (22).
     (j) TORQUE the nuts (22) to between 0.88 and 0.72 m.daN (77.88 and 63.72 lbf.in )
T.
     (k) Safety the nuts (22) with the new cotter pins (21).
   (3) Engage the drive shaft assembly into the bracket (37).
   (4) Install the drive shaft assembly and the bracket (37) on the airframe structure:
     (a) Put the drive shaft assembly and the bracket (37) in position on the airframe structure.
     (b) Make sure that the link plate (30) is aligned with the mechanical input lever (31).
     (c) Install the bracket (37) with the bolts (1), the washers (2), and the nuts (3).
     (d) TORQUE the nuts (3) to between 0.88 and 0.72 m.daN (77.88 and 63.72 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Safety the nuts (3) with the new
AIPC 27-41-04-04-260 COTTER PINS (4) or AIPC 27-41-84-07-010 COTTER PINS (4).
     (f) Connect the link plate (30) with the bolts (32), the washers (29) and the nuts (28) on the mechanical input lever (31).
     (g)
     (h) TORQUE the nuts (28) to between 0.88 and 0.72 m.daN (77.88 and 63.72 lbf.in ) T.
     (i) Safety the nuts (28) with the new
AIPC 27-41-04-04-340 COTTER PINS (27) or AIPC 27-41-84-07-010 COTTER PINS (27).
     (j) Install the the
0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER in the mechanical input lever (31).
   (5) Install the sprocket (11) and the chain (47):
     (a) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the sprocket (11) and the chain (47).
     (b) Make sure that the mechanical input (little hole drilled on the sprocket shaft (19)) is in the upper position compare to the sprocket shaft (19) axis.
     (c) Engage the sprocket (11) with its mechanical input (little hole drilled on the sprocket) in the upper position compare to the sprocket shaft (19) axis on the grooves of the sprocket shaft (19).
     (d) Align the hole of the sprocket (11) with the hole of the sprocket shaft (19).
     (e) Install the bolt (9), the washers (10), (12) and the nut (13).
     (f) Tighten the nut (13).
     (g) Safety the nut (13) with the new AIPC 27-41-04-04-300 COTTER PIN (14) or AIPC 27-41-84-07-050 COTTER PIN (14).
     (h) Engage the chain (47) on the sprocket (11).
     (i) Make sure that the length of the LH chain is 33.6 links +1.15/-0.26 links ( 320.7 mm (12.6260 in.) + 11.0 mm (0.4331 in.) - 2.5 MM (0.0984 IN.)) tangential from the center of the sprocket.
     (j) Put the chain guard (7) in position on the chain guard base plate (6).
     (k) Install the screws (8) and tighten them.
   (6) Tighten the cables equally until you can remove easily the
98D27407532000 RIGGING PIN - THS MECHANICAL CONTROL from the tension regulator.
   (7) Remove the 98D27407532000 RIGGING PIN - THS MECHANICAL CONTROL from the tension regulator.
   (8) Temporarily, install the locking clips on the turnbuckles of the THS control cables but do not lock them.
   (9) Remove the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER from the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
   (10) Remove the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING from the pitch trim control wheel (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-001).
   (11) Do the adjustment of the THS Control-cables length (Ref. AMM TASK 27-41-00-820-002).
   (12) Make sure that the locking clips are correctly installed in the turnbuckles of the THS control cables.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Test
   (1) Do the functional test of the THS-Actuator overtravel related to the mechanical indicator (Ref. AMM TASK 27-41-00-720-001).

D. End of installation
   (1) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001).
   (2) Install the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER on the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
   (3) Put the chain cover base plate (48) in position on the chain guard base plate (6) and on the bracket installed on the base plate (44).
   (4) Make sure that the area of the chain and the chain covers is clean and clear of tools and all other items.
   (5) Install the lower chain cover (41) on the chain cover base plate (48) with the quick-release fasteners.
   (6) Install the upper chain cover (17) on the lower chain cover (41).
   (7) Install the washers (16) on the screws (15) and install them on the upper chain cover (17).
   (8) Tighten the screws (15).
   (9) Attach the chain guard base plate (6) with the upper chain cover (17) with the quick-release fasteners (33).
   (10) Remove the 0U190360 PIN-RIGGING,THS ACTUATOR,MECHANICAL INPUT LEVER from the mechanical input of the THS actuator.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the access door 312AR.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) According to the maintenance configuration:
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
