Removal of the Servo Control Actuator Eye-End
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 334 (for the left-hand trailing-edge access-panels) and/or zone 344 (for the right-hand trailing-edge access-panels).
Subtask 27-34-51-860-070-A (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 334 (for the left-hand trailing-edge access-panels) and/or zone 344 (for the right-hand trailing-edge access-panels).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Set the elevator and the horizontal stabilizer controls to the neutral position.
(2) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
Subtask 27-34-51-865-072-A (1) Set the elevator and the horizontal stabilizer controls to the neutral position.
(2) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

D. Get Access
(1) Open trailing-edge access panels 334DB and/or 344DB (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-000-001).

E. Installation of the Locking Devices
(1) Install the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.
(2) Move the elevator by hand at the upper position:
(a) If you remove the two elevator servo-controls:
1 Install the 98D27309001000 NEUTRAL SETTING TOOL - ELEVATOR.
(b) If you remove only one elevator servo control:
1 Open trailing-edge access panels 334DB and/or 344DB (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-000-001).
2 Install the 98D27309009003 COLLAR-DEPTH ACTUATOR or the 98D27309009004 COLLAR-DEPTH ACTUATOR on the servo control actuator that is not removed.
4. Procedure(1) Install the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.
(2) Move the elevator by hand at the upper position:
(a) If you remove the two elevator servo-controls:
1 Install the 98D27309001000 NEUTRAL SETTING TOOL - ELEVATOR.
(b) If you remove only one elevator servo control:
1 Open trailing-edge access panels 334DB and/or 344DB (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-000-001).
2 Install the 98D27309009003 COLLAR-DEPTH ACTUATOR or the 98D27309009004 COLLAR-DEPTH ACTUATOR on the servo control actuator that is not removed.
Subtask 27-34-51-020-058-A
A. Disconnect the Servo-Control Actuator Eye-End from the Elevator Attachment.
(1) Remove the servo control actuator (10) from the elevator attachment. (Ref. AMM TASK 27-34-51-000-001)
(3) Move the servo control unit eye-end (6) clear of the elevator.
(4) Remove the servo-control actuator eye-end:
(b) Release the nut (7).
(c) Release the lock washer (8) from key washer (9).
(d) Remove the eye-end (6) from servo control actuator (10).
(1) Remove the servo control actuator (10) from the elevator attachment. (Ref. AMM TASK 27-34-51-000-001)
NOTE: The complete removal of the servo control actuator is not necessary. You must remove only the servo-control actuator attachment from the elevator.
(2) Support the servo control unit (10). (3) Move the servo control unit eye-end (6) clear of the elevator.
(4) Remove the servo-control actuator eye-end:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire. (b) Release the nut (7).
(c) Release the lock washer (8) from key washer (9).
(d) Remove the eye-end (6) from servo control actuator (10).
NOTE: Record the number of turns required to remove eye-end (6) from the servo control actuator.
