3. Job Set-up
Subtask 27-21-42-860-057-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL (1) is installed on the CAPT yaw/brake bell crank (2).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to use these controls:
  • On the CAPT and F/O pedals
  • On the RUD TRIM selector switch on panel 110VU.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at access door 811.
   (6) Make sure that access door 811 is open.
4. Procedure
Subtask 27-21-42-420-053-B
A. Installation of the Footrests
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Carefully clean the contact surfaces of new footrests (5) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and dry them with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (4) Bond the footrests (5) to the pedal cover assembly (10) with Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) or with Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) :
     (a) With Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) :
       1 Apply primer on the pedal cover assembly (10).
       2 Do not apply primer on the footrests (5).
       3 Let the primer dry for approximately 30 minutes (for a maximum of two hours).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE FOOTRESTS MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU APPLY ADHESIVE SEALANT (MATERIAL NO. 06CMD9 OR MATERIAL NO. 06BHG1). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CONDITION, THE FOOTRESTS CAN BE INCORRECTLY BONDED.
       4 Apply adhesive on the two parts. Let adhesive dry for five minutes.
       5 Install the footrests (5) on the pedal cover assembly (10).
       6 Hold them in position for 24 hours.
       7 Install the plates (4) on the footrests (5) with the screws (3).
       8 Install the cover (7) on the footrests (5) and the pedal cover assembly (10) with the screws (6).
     (b) With Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) :
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE FOOTRESTS MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU APPLY ADHESIVE SEALANT (MATERIAL NO. 06CMD9 OR MATERIAL NO. 06BHG1). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CONDITION, THE FOOTRESTS CAN BE INCORRECTLY BONDED.
       1 Apply adhesive on the two parts. Let the adhesive dry for five minutes.
       2 Install the footrests (5) on the pedal cover assembly (10).
       3 Let them stay in position for four hours.
       4 Install the plates (4) on the footrests (5) with the screws (3).
       5 Install the cover (7) on the footrests (5) and the pedal cover assembly (10) with the screws (6).

B. Installation of the Pads
   (1) Carefully clean the contact surfaces of new pads (8) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and dry them with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (2) Bond the pads (8) to the pedals (9) with Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) or with Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) :
     (a) With Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) :
       1 Apply primer on the pedals (9).
       2 Do not apply primer on the pads (8).
       3 Let dry for approximately 30 minutes (for a maximum of two hours).
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE PADS MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU APPLY ADHESIVE SEALANT (MATERIAL NO. 06CMD9 OR MATERIAL NO. 06BHG1). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CONDITION, THE PADS CAN BE INCORRECTLY BONDED.
       4 Apply adhesive on the two parts. Let dry for five minutes.
       5 Install the pads (8) on the pedals (9).
       6 Hold them in position for 24 hours.
     (b) With Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) :
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE PADS MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU APPLY ADHESIVE SEALANT (MATERIAL NO. 06CMD9 OR MATERIAL NO. 06BHG1). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CONDITION, THE PADS CAN BE INCORRECTLY BONDED.
       1 Apply adhesive on the two parts. Let dry for five minutes.
       2 Install the pads (8) on the pedals (9).
       3 Hold them in position for four hours.
5. Close-up

A. Removal of the Tool
   (1) In zone 120, remove the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL (1) from the CAPT yaw/brake bell crank (2).

B. Install the Captain/First Officer seat (Ref. AMM TASK 25-11-51-400-001).

C. Close Access
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close access door 811.
   (4) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
