   (1) Remove the ELT(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-65-32-000-001).
4. Procedure

CAUTION: DO NOT SET THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER TOGGLE SWITCH TO THE "ON" POSITION. THIS IS TO PREVENT UNWANTED SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS.
CAUTION: PULL THE TOGGLE SWITCH BEFORE YOU SET IT TO THE "ON", "OFF" OR "ARMED" POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER.
A. BITE Test

   (1) If there are specific local requirements or customer operational procedures refer to them for the correct position of the toggle switch (OFF or ARMED).
   (2) Do the test during the first five minutes after the hour, between XX:00 hours and XX:05 hours.

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the ELT:
On the ELT:
  • Make sure that the toggle switch is on the ARMED position. Push the TEST switch to do the self-test.
NOTE: If test results are unsatisfactory, do the test a maximum of three times again.
  • The TX indicator flashes two times.
  • After 3s, the TX indicator and the buzzer of the ELT operate for 6s.
  • The TX indicator stays on continuously for 10 seconds. This shows correct operation of the ELT.
NOTE: When you set the toggle switch to ARMED to do the self-test, the ELT automatically returns to the ARMED mode.
NOTE: If you set the toggle switch to ON to do the self-test, the ELT will be in waiting mode for 30s. After 30s, the waiting mode stops and the ELT will send a real distress signal.
  • Set the toggle switch to the ARMED position before the waiting mode stops.

A. BITE Test

NOTE: The self-test is a temporary mode and operates for not longer than 5 seconds.

   (1) Do the test during the first five minutes after the hour, between XX:00 hours and XX:05 hours.
   (2) Make sure that the toggle switch is set to the OFF position.

ACTION
RESULT
1.On the ELT:
On the ELT:
  • Disconnect the water switch sensor from the RC connector.
  • Connect the programming dongle to the RC connector.
  • Make sure that the antenna is connected correctly.

  • Set the toggle switch to the ARM position.
  • The buzzer operates during the self test procedure.
  • After a few seconds, one long flash on the red LED of the front panel confirms a satisfactory test result.
NOTE: A sequence of short flashes indicates that the test result is unsatisfactory.
  • Set the toggle switch to the OFF position.
  • Disconnect the programming dongle from the RC connector and stow it in the related compartment.
  • Connect the water switch sensor to the RC connector.

  • Keep the toggle switch in the OFF position, or set it to the ARM position.
NOTE: Refer to the customer's operational procedures for the correct position of the toggle switch.
  • If you set the toggle switch to the ARM position, the self-test indications are repeated.
Subtask 25-65-00-740-054-AFT ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. BITE Test
CAUTION: DO THE TEST DURING THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE HOUR UTC (UNIVERSAL CO-ORDINATED TIME), BETWEEN XX:00 HOURS AND XX:05 HOURS. THIS IS TO PREVENT UNWANTED RESCUE OPERATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT SET THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER (ELT) SLIDE SWITCH TO ON. THIS IS TO PREVENT UNWANTED SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS.
   (1) Make sure that the ELT is in the correct condition.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTENNA IS ATTACHED TO THE ELT AND FULLY EXTENDED DURING THE OPERATIONAL TEST OF THE ELT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELT.
   (2) Deploy the ELT antenna for the ELT BITE test.
   (3) Make sure that the ELT antenna is correctly connected to the ELT.
   (4) If the safety clip is installed on the ELT, remove the safety clip to see the BEACON ACTIVE LED installed below the safety clip.

On the ELT:
On the ELT:
1.Set the TEST/OFF/ON switch to TEST and hold it in this position.
NOTE: The TEST/OFF/ON switch is spring loaded. If you release the TEST/OFF/ON switch, it will automatically go back to the OFF position.
After 3 to 5 seconds:
  • You hear two swept tones.
  • The BEACON ACTIVE LED flashes two times.
2.Keep the TEST/OFF/ON switch in the TEST position.
  • You hear a beep.
  • The BEACON ACTIVE LED stays on permanently.
NOTE: If the BEACON ACTIVE LED flashes slowly, then the ELT has an internal fault and must be replaced.
NOTE: If the BEACON ACTIVE LED flashes quickly, then the battery has low capacity and must be replaced.
3.Release the TEST/OFF/ON switch.
  • The TEST/OFF/ON switch automatically goes back to the OFF position.
  • The BEACON ACTIVE LED goes off.
   (5) If you removed the safety clip from the ELT, install the safety clip.
NOTE: The safety clip prevents accidental operation of the ELT.
   (6) Fold the ELT antenna and stow it.
