   (1) For the location of the ELT, refer to Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 25-65-00-00).
   (2) Open the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Portable ELT

CAUTION: PULL THE TOGGLE SWITCH BEFORE YOU SET IT TO THE "ON", "OFF" OR "ARMED" POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER.
   (1) Remove the ELT (5):
  • If necessary, release/open the strap/clamp.
  • If necessary, release/open the ELT from the bag.
   (2) Set the toggle switch (6) to the OFF position.
   (3) If necessary, remove the activation/identification module (2):
     (a) If the activation/identification module uses the aircraft registration or the aircraft 24-BIT-address for identification, make sure that it stays with the aircraft.
     (b) If the activation/identification module uses the ELT part number for identification, make sure that it stays with the ELT.
     (c) If you do not know which identification the activation/identification module uses, contact the responsible engineering department.
     (d) Remove the screws (1) and carefully pull the activation/identification module (2) out of the ELT (5) with the lanyard (4).
NOTE: The lanyard (4) stays installed on the activation/identification module (2).
     (e) Remove and keep the O-ring seal (3).

CAUTION: DO NOT SET THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER TOGGLE SWITCH TO THE "ON" POSITION. THIS IS TO PREVENT UNWANTED SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS.
CAUTION: PULL THE TOGGLE SWITCH BEFORE YOU SET IT TO THE "ON", "OFF" OR "ARM" POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER.
   (1) Remove the ELT (1).
NOTE: The ELT is installed in a bracket with a strap or in a bag.
   (2) Pull the toggle switch (6) and set it to the OFF position.
   (3) If a programming dongle (3) is available, make sure that it stays in the aircraft.
NOTE: This will make sure that the aircraft registration code/number (ICAO) stays the same when you install an ELT.
   (4) If the safety pin (2) is installed, make sure that you do not remove it.
NOTE: The safety pin does not let you set the toggle switch to the ON position.

A. Removal of the Portable ELT

   (1) Remove and discard the seal (5).
   (2) Open the strap (2) of the bracket (4).
   (3) Carefully remove the ELT (1) from the bracket (4).
