   (1) For the location of this component, refer to Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 25-65-00-00).
   (2) Open the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
NOTE: Placards show the location of the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT). The placards are bonded to the outer side of the stowage compartment.
   (3) If a strap holds the ELT, release it.
   (4) If a clamp holds the ELT, open it.
   (5) Remove the ELT from the stowage compartment.

CAUTION: DO THE TEST IN THE SCREENED ROOM. IF THE SCREENED ROOM IS NOT AVAILABLE, DO THE TEST DURING THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE HOUR. (BETWEEN XX.00 HRS AND XX:05 HRS) IF YOU MUST DO THE TEST AT A DIFFERENT TIME, FIRST TELL THE NEAREST AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL FACILITY TO IGNORE THE SIGNAL DURING THE TEST. MAKE SURE THAT THE TEST SIGNAL IS NOT LONGER THAN THREE TONES. THIS IS TO PREVENT UNWANTED RESCUE OPERATIONS.
   (1) Send the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) to the workshop.

   (1) Do a check of the ELT attachment(s) (strap, clamp and/or bag) for wear, contamination and environmental degradation. Make sure that the attachment(s) is (are) in a serviceable condition.
   (2) Install the ELT on the stowage compartment.
   (3) Attach the strap.
   (4) Close the clamp.
   (5) Close the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
   (6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

   (1) Install the ELT (Ref. AMM TASK 25-65-32-400-001).
