CAUTION: DO THE TEST DURING THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE HOUR UTC (UNIVERSAL CO-ORDINATED TIME), BETWEEN XX:00 HOURS AND XX:05 HOURS. THIS IS TO PREVENT UNWANTED RESCUE OPERATIONS.
A. Operational Test
   (1) In the cockpit, prevent damage to the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) electronics:
CAUTION: DO NOT DO AN ANNUNCIATOR LIGHT TEST DURING THE TEST OF THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER (ELT) SYSTEM. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO AN INTERNAL RELAY OF THE ELT.
     (a) On panel 25VU, make sure that the ANN LT switch (1) is not set to TEST during the operational test.

CAUTION: DO NOT DO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER (ELT) TEST FOR LONGER THAN 50 SECONDS. IF YOU DO, THE ELT WILL SEND DISTRESS SIGNALS AND RESCUE OPERATIONS WILL START.
   (2) Use the Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) and do the test.

ACTION
RESULT
1.On remote control panel 111MX:
  • Set the ON-ARMED-TEST/RESET switch (4) to TEST/RESET.
NOTE: The ON-ARMED-TEST/RESET switch (4) automatically goes back to ARMED. The self-test mode is automatically set to 5 seconds.
  • If test results are unsatisfactory, do test up to three times again.
On remote control panel 111MX:
  • The ON/TEST indicator (3) flashes one time.
  • After approximately 3 seconds, on the ON/TEST indicator (3), one long flash confirms a satisfactory test result.
NOTE: If the ON/TEST indicator (3) shows a sequence of short flashes, the test result is unsatisfactory.

NOTE: You can ignore the indications and the sounds that occur at these locations:
On ELT 110MX:
  • The buzzer operates during the full self-test procedure.
  • The red indicator flashes one time.
  • When the test is completed, on the red indicator, one long flash confirms a satisfactory test result.
On panel 108VU:
  • ELT indicator 113MX comes on for 5 seconds.
In the nose landing-gear well:
  • Mechanic call horn 15WC operates for 5 seconds.

A. BITE Test
   (1) Prevent damage to the ELT electronics:
CAUTION: DO NOT DO AN ANNUNCIATOR LIGHT TEST DURING THE TEST OF THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER (ELT) SYSTEM. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO AN INTERNAL RELAY OF THE ELT.
     (a) On panel 25VU, make sure that the ANN LT switch (1) is not on the TEST position.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on panel 25VU to tell persons not to set the ANN LT switch (1) to the TEST position during the BITE test.
CAUTION: DO NOT DO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER TEST FOR LONGER THAN 30 SECONDS. IF YOU DO, THE ELT WILL TRANSMIT DISTRESS SIGNALS AND RESCUE OPERATIONS WILL START.
   (2) Do the test during the first five minutes after the hour, between XX:00 hours and XX:05 hours.

NOTE: It is necessary to use Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) time for the test.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On remote-control panel (RCP) 111MX:
On remote-control panel (RCP) 111MX:
  • Make sure that the ON/ARMED switch (4) is set to the ARMED position. If necessary, lift the switch guard (5).
NOTE: The ARMED position is the usual position for the ON/ARMED switch.

- Push the TEST/RESET button (2) for approximately 2s.
- The indicator (3) flashes two times and goes off for 6s.
NOTE: If test results are unsatisfactory, do test up to three times again.
NOTE: You can ignore the visual indications and the sounds that occur at these other locations:
  • At ELT 110MX (RED indicator and buzzer).
  • On panel 108VU (ELT indicator 113MX).
