CAUTION: MAKE A RECORD OF THE REFURBISHMENT OF EACH COMPONENT TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS DATA IS AVAILABLE FOR SUBSEQUENT REFURBISHMENTS. IF THIS DATA IS MISSING, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE SUBSEQUENT REFURBISHMENT WILL NOT AGREE WITH THE FLAMMABILITY REQUIREMENTS.

A. Painting of the Handrail of an OHSC
   (1) Remove the handrail (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-960-001).
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the handrail. Obey the MAINTENANCE HISTORY DATA, if available.
CAUTION: MEASURE THE THICKNESS OF THE PAINT ON THE SURFACES OF THE COMPONENT BEFORE YOU PAINT THEM AGAIN. PAINT THAT IS TOO THICK INCREASES THE WEIGHT AND THE FLAMMABILITY PROPERTIES OF THE AIRCRAFT.
   (3) If the paint layer is applied, with the GAGE-THICKNESS, PAINT BORER 518, measure the thickness of the paint layer. Do a check if the maximum paint layer thickness is 25 micrometers.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PAINT COATING WITH ABRASIVE PAPER.
   (4) If the thickness of the paint layer is more than 25 micrometers, with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400), carefully remove the unwanted paint from the handrail. Make sure that the maximum paint layer thickness is 25 micrometers.
   (5) Carefully sand the surface with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400).
   (6) Clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (7) With the GUN - AIR SPRAY, STANDARD PAINT or PAINTBRUSH, apply a layer of Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) with a thickness of between 15 and 25 micrometers to the surface of the handrail.
NOTE: The paint layer thickness must be between 50 and 90 micrometers.
   (8) For enhanced cabin, use only water-based paint.
NOTE: For classic cabin, you can use solvent-based paint. But we recommend to always use water- based paint.
NOTE: For A318/A319/A320/A321, only these top coats are permitted: ALEXIT FST 404-12, ALEXIT FST 346-55, FRS40 and FR2/55.
   (9) Let the paint dry at a temperature of 23 -2 deg.C or +2 deg.C (73.4 -3.6 deg.F or +3.6 deg.F) and a relative humidity of 45-55% for:
  • 5-30 minutes if it must be dry away from dust
  • 5-8 hours if it must be dry for transport
  • 12 hours if it must be dry for installation.
   (10) Install the handrail (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-960-001).
Subtask 25-20-00-370-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Painting of the Doors of an OHSC
   (1) Remove the doors of the OHSC (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-002).
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the doors.
Do a check if the maximum paint layer thickness is 90 micrometers.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PAINT COATING WITH ABRASIVE PAPER.
   (4) If the thickness of the paint layer is more than 90 micrometers, with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400), carefully remove the unwanted paint from the doors. Make sure that the maximum paint layer thickness is 90 micrometers.
   (7) Use the GUN - AIR SPRAY, STANDARD PAINT or PAINTBRUSH and apply a layer of Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) with a thickness of between 15 and 25 micrometers to the surface of the doors.
NOTE: The paint layer thickness must be between 50 and 90 micrometers.
   (8) For enhanced cabin, use only water-based paint.

  • 5-30 minutes if it must be dry away from dust
  • 5-8 hours if it must be dry for transport
  • 12 hours if it must be dry for installation.

C. Painting of the Interior of an OHSC
   (1) Do a visual inspection of the OHSC interior.
