Subtask 25-20-00-560-050-A
A. Preparation
(1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Use a VACUUM CLEANER to clean the work area from dust and other particles.
(3) Clean the component interface and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Make sure that the ambient temperature in the work area is between 18.0 deg.C (64 deg.F) and 30.0 deg.C (86 deg.F).
(5) Make sure that the ambient humidity is not more than 75%.
Subtask 25-20-00-350-052-A (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Use a VACUUM CLEANER to clean the work area from dust and other particles.
(3) Clean the component interface and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Make sure that the ambient temperature in the work area is between 18.0 deg.C (64 deg.F) and 30.0 deg.C (86 deg.F).
(5) Make sure that the ambient humidity is not more than 75%.
B. Repair of the PVC and Silicone Floor Covering
(2) Put the repair patch in position on the damaged NTF and align it with the surface structure.
(3) Make a shape of the repair patch on the damaged NTF with a MARKER - FELT TIP.
(5) Carefully remove the top layer with a CHISEL - ALUMINUM from the laminate. Make sure that you hold the chisel in an angle of less than 15 deg (15 deg).
(6) Carefully remove the remaining adhesive from the laminate with a SPATULA - METALLIC and a BRUSH - BRISTLED.
(7) Make sure that the repair patch aligns with the repair area without pressure.
(8) Clean the mating surface of the repair area and the repair patch with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(9) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) to the repair patch with a BRUSH - BRISTLED.
(10) Carefully put the repair patch in position and align the surface structure with the adjacent NTF.
(11) Push the repair patch down with a ROLLER - RUBBER.
(12) Remove the redundant adhesive with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(13) Let the repair cure as specified by the manufacturer.
(a) Install Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) around the cutout of the repair area.
(b) Apply a thin layer of the primer Adhesion Promoter-For Silicone Sealant - - (Material No.06PBG1) with a PAINTBRUSH into the space between the adjacent NTF and the repair patch.
(c) Let the primer cure for not more than 4 h.
(d) Apply Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) to the clearance between the repair patch and the adjacent NTF with a GUN - SEALANT.
(e) Immediately remove the unwanted sealant with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC. instructions.
(f) Remove the masking tape.
(g) Let the sealant cure as specified by the manufacturer.
(15) For welding the repair patch, refer to subtask 252000-310-050.
Subtask 25-20-00-350-053-A NOTE: The procedure that follows is not easy without the correct equipment. On NTF with a very thin top layer, the results of this procedure can be unsatisfactory.
NOTE: The procedure that follows is applicable for all-in-one NTF and for conventional NTF.
(1) Cut out a square or a circular repair patch from new NTF TOP LAYER MATERIAL as necessary to cover the damaged NTF area, use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE with a RULER - STEEL or a CUTTER - CIRCLE. (2) Put the repair patch in position on the damaged NTF and align it with the surface structure.
(3) Make a shape of the repair patch on the damaged NTF with a MARKER - FELT TIP.
CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MOISTURE BARRIER FOIL (MYLAR).
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE FLOOR COVERING CAREFULLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CABIN FLOOR PANELS.
(4) Carefully cut along the shape you made before, through the top layer of the damaged NTF. Use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE with a RULER - STEEL or a CUTTER - CIRCLE. (5) Carefully remove the top layer with a CHISEL - ALUMINUM from the laminate. Make sure that you hold the chisel in an angle of less than 15 deg (15 deg).
(6) Carefully remove the remaining adhesive from the laminate with a SPATULA - METALLIC and a BRUSH - BRISTLED.
(7) Make sure that the repair patch aligns with the repair area without pressure.
(8) Clean the mating surface of the repair area and the repair patch with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(9) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) to the repair patch with a BRUSH - BRISTLED.
(10) Carefully put the repair patch in position and align the surface structure with the adjacent NTF.
(11) Push the repair patch down with a ROLLER - RUBBER.
(12) Remove the redundant adhesive with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(13) Let the repair cure as specified by the manufacturer.
NOTE: For the repair of NTF type AerFusion Eco it is not allowed to weld the repair patch. It is approved to seal the repair patch with Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) .
(14) Seal the repair patch: (a) Install Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) around the cutout of the repair area.
(b) Apply a thin layer of the primer Adhesion Promoter-For Silicone Sealant - - (Material No.06PBG1) with a PAINTBRUSH into the space between the adjacent NTF and the repair patch.
(c) Let the primer cure for not more than 4 h.
(d) Apply Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) to the clearance between the repair patch and the adjacent NTF with a GUN - SEALANT.
(e) Immediately remove the unwanted sealant with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC. instructions.
(f) Remove the masking tape.
(g) Let the sealant cure as specified by the manufacturer.
(15) For welding the repair patch, refer to subtask 252000-310-050.
NOTE: The welding of the repair patch is only applicable for PVC NTF.
C. Repair of Large Areas of All-in-One NTF
(a) Remove the screws (8) and the joint-strips (7).
(b) Remove the sealant (6) around the damaged NTF (1) with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC
(2) Remove the doorsill (5) if necessary:
(a) Remove the sealant (6) around the doorsill (5) with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(b) Remove the screws (4) and the doorsill (5).
(3) Start at an NTF-joint and put marks around the area of damaged NTF (1), use a MARKER - FELT TIP.
(b) Lift a corner of the damaged NTF (1) and carefully pull it from the moisture barrier foil.
(e) Do the steps (c) to (d) again until the damaged NTF (1) is fully cut.
(f) Lift and remove the damaged NTF (1).
(5) Clean the component interface and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) . Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC if necessary.
(6) Make sure that the work area is free from dust and other particles.
(7) Do a detailed visual inspection of the moisture barrier foil. Make sure that the foil has no damage, scratches or holes.
(8) If necessary, replace the damaged moisture barrier foil (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-43-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-43-400-001).
(9) Prepare the replacement (2):
(a) Make sure that the surface structure of the replacement (2) aligns with the surface structure of the adjacent NTF.
(b) Make sure that the clearance "X" between two pieces of NTF is
(d) Cut the replacement (2) to the correct size, use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE and a RULER - STEEL or SCISSORS.
(e) Apply Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Nitrile base - (Material No.05JBB9) to the bottom surface of the replacement with a ROLLER - RUBBER, FOAM.
(f) Unwind the Adhesive Transfer Tape-Non Textile Floor - - (Material No.05NCA2) (3) and align it with the replacement (2). Install the self-adhesive film (3) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and a light pressure of your hand.
(g) Work from the middle to the edges to prevent wrinkles and air pockets.
(h) Push the self-adhesive film (3) down with a ROLLER - RUBBER.
(i) Cut the self-adhesive film (3) to the same size as the replacement (2).
(10) Install the replacement:
(a) Carefully put the replacement (2) in position and make sure that it correctly aligns with the adjacent NTF.
(b) Remove the protective paper from the self-adhesive film (3).
(c) Install the replacement (2) on the moisture barrier foil with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and light pressure of your hand. Work from the middle to the edges to prevent wrinkles and air pockets.
(d) Push the replacement (2) down with a ROLLER - RUBBER.
(a) Make sure that the NTF surface is dry, dust and oil free. If necessary clean it with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(b) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) around the edges of the replacement (2).
(c) Apply a bead of Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) into the clearance between the replacement (2) and:
(e) Remove the masking tape.
(f) Let the sealant cure as specified by the manufacturer.
(12) For welding the repair patch refer to subtask 252000-310-050.
(13) Install the doorsill (5) if removed:
(a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the screws (4).
(b) Install the doorsill (5) with the screws (4).
(c) Apply a bead of Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) around the doorsill (5).
(14) Install the joint-strips (7) if removed:
(a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) into the clearance between the textile floor covering and the replacement (2).
(b) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the screws (8).
(c) Install the joint-strips (7) with the screws (8).
Subtask 25-20-00-310-050-A NOTE: For the procedure that follows, it is not necessary to remove the adjacent monuments.
(1) Remove the joint-strips (7) if necessary: (a) Remove the screws (8) and the joint-strips (7).
(b) Remove the sealant (6) around the damaged NTF (1) with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC
(2) Remove the doorsill (5) if necessary:
(a) Remove the sealant (6) around the doorsill (5) with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(b) Remove the screws (4) and the doorsill (5).
(3) Start at an NTF-joint and put marks around the area of damaged NTF (1), use a MARKER - FELT TIP.
CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MOISTURE BARRIER FOIL (MYLAR).
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE FLOOR COVERING CAREFULLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CABIN FLOOR PANELS.
(4) Remove the damaged NTF (1): NOTE: There is no composite layer below the NTF-joints.
(a) Start to cut carefully along an NTF-joint, use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE and a RULER - STEEL. Only cut a small distance, so that you can lift a corner of the NTF. (b) Lift a corner of the damaged NTF (1) and carefully pull it from the moisture barrier foil.
NOTE: For the steps that follow, it is recommended to use SCISSORS to cut the NTF.
(c) If you continue to cut the NTF with a CUTTER - THIN BLADE carefully push an ALUMINIUM PLATE WITHOUT SHARP EDGES below the marks on the NTF. This prevents damage to the moisture barrier foil. NOTE: The plate is necessary for protection of the floor panel and the MYLAR when you cut. Equivalent non-metallic plates can be used.
NOTE: The plate must always be under the NTF when you cut.
(d) Continue to cut the NTF along the marks, use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE and a RULER - STEEL or SCISSORS . If you use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE, stop at the end of the plate. (e) Do the steps (c) to (d) again until the damaged NTF (1) is fully cut.
(f) Lift and remove the damaged NTF (1).
(5) Clean the component interface and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) . Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC if necessary.
(6) Make sure that the work area is free from dust and other particles.
(7) Do a detailed visual inspection of the moisture barrier foil. Make sure that the foil has no damage, scratches or holes.
(8) If necessary, replace the damaged moisture barrier foil (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-43-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-28-43-400-001).
(9) Prepare the replacement (2):
(a) Make sure that the surface structure of the replacement (2) aligns with the surface structure of the adjacent NTF.
(b) Make sure that the clearance "X" between two pieces of NTF is
- for welding: 1.5 +1.5 mm or -1.0 mm (0.06 +0.06 in. or -0.04 in.)
- for sealing: 3.0 +1.0 mm or -0.5 mm (0.12 +0.04 in. or -0.02 in.)
(d) Cut the replacement (2) to the correct size, use a CUTTER - THIN BLADE and a RULER - STEEL or SCISSORS.
(e) Apply Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Nitrile base - (Material No.05JBB9) to the bottom surface of the replacement with a ROLLER - RUBBER, FOAM.
(f) Unwind the Adhesive Transfer Tape-Non Textile Floor - - (Material No.05NCA2) (3) and align it with the replacement (2). Install the self-adhesive film (3) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and a light pressure of your hand.
(g) Work from the middle to the edges to prevent wrinkles and air pockets.
(h) Push the self-adhesive film (3) down with a ROLLER - RUBBER.
(i) Cut the self-adhesive film (3) to the same size as the replacement (2).
(10) Install the replacement:
(a) Carefully put the replacement (2) in position and make sure that it correctly aligns with the adjacent NTF.
(b) Remove the protective paper from the self-adhesive film (3).
(c) Install the replacement (2) on the moisture barrier foil with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and light pressure of your hand. Work from the middle to the edges to prevent wrinkles and air pockets.
(d) Push the replacement (2) down with a ROLLER - RUBBER.
NOTE: For the repair of NTF type AerFusion Eco it is not allowed to weld the repair patch. It is approved to seal the repair patch with Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) .
(11) Seal the replacement (2): (a) Make sure that the NTF surface is dry, dust and oil free. If necessary clean it with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(b) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) around the edges of the replacement (2).
(c) Apply a bead of Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) into the clearance between the replacement (2) and:
- The adjacent NTF
- The adjacent furnishing.
Use a GUN - SEALANT.
(e) Remove the masking tape.
(f) Let the sealant cure as specified by the manufacturer.
(12) For welding the repair patch refer to subtask 252000-310-050.
(13) Install the doorsill (5) if removed:
(a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the screws (4).
(b) Install the doorsill (5) with the screws (4).
(c) Apply a bead of Silicone Sealant-Non Textile Floor Jointing One part - (Material No.06BQD1) around the doorsill (5).
(14) Install the joint-strips (7) if removed:
(a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) into the clearance between the textile floor covering and the replacement (2).
(b) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the screws (8).
(c) Install the joint-strips (7) with the screws (8).
D. Repair of a Hot Welded Joint
(2) Make sure that the maximum depth of the groove is not more than 2.5 mm (0.10 in.).
(3) Remove loose particles from the groove. If necessary, use a VACUUM CLEANER.
(4) Clean the area of the repair with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(6) Put the welding rod into the speed welding nozzle.
(7) Obey the manufacturer's instructions when you use the hot air blower.
(8) Set the working temperature of the HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F) between 160 deg.C (320.00 deg.F) and 200 deg.C (392.00 deg.F).
(9) Move the speed welding nozzle along the groove with a light pressure and constant speed.
(10) Let the the welded joint cool for at least 10 minutes and remove the unwanted material with a KNIFE - PUTTY or a TRIMMING PLANE.
(11) Make sure that the welded joint is clean and in the correct condition.
(12) Make sure that the surface of the seal correctly aligns with the NTF top layer.
(13) Use a ROLLER - STEEL with pressure to make sure that there is no separation between the welding material and the NTF top layer.
Subtask 25-20-00-410-054-A CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MOISTURE BARRIER FOIL (MYLAR).
(1) Cut the edges of the NTF at the joints with a SCRAPER - TRIANGLE SHAPE. (2) Make sure that the maximum depth of the groove is not more than 2.5 mm (0.10 in.).
(3) Remove loose particles from the groove. If necessary, use a VACUUM CLEANER.
(4) Clean the area of the repair with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS A GOOD FLOW OF AIR THROUGH THE WORK AREA. FUMES FROM WELDING ARE POISONOUS.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH HOT PARTS WITHOUT APPLICABLE GLOVES. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE AN INJURY.
WARNING:
WHEN YOU PUT THE HOT AIR BLOWER DOWN, MAKE SURE THAT YOU PUT IT ON A HEAT-RESISTANT SURFACE. THE HOT PARTS OF THE BLOWER CAN CAUSE A FIRE.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT:
(5) Cut the welding rod Cord-Welding PVC - (Material No.14RCB1) some centimeters/inches longer than the necessary length. - THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HOT AIR BLOWER IS NOT TOO HIGH
- THE BLOWER DOES NOT MOVE TOO SLOWLY ALONG THE WELD.
(6) Put the welding rod into the speed welding nozzle.
(7) Obey the manufacturer's instructions when you use the hot air blower.
(8) Set the working temperature of the HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F) between 160 deg.C (320.00 deg.F) and 200 deg.C (392.00 deg.F).
(9) Move the speed welding nozzle along the groove with a light pressure and constant speed.
(10) Let the the welded joint cool for at least 10 minutes and remove the unwanted material with a KNIFE - PUTTY or a TRIMMING PLANE.
(11) Make sure that the welded joint is clean and in the correct condition.
(12) Make sure that the surface of the seal correctly aligns with the NTF top layer.
(13) Use a ROLLER - STEEL with pressure to make sure that there is no separation between the welding material and the NTF top layer.
E. Close Access
(1) Install the emergency-escape path-marking as necessary. Refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 33-51-00-00) to know which emergency lights are installed.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
