A. Torque Check of the Quick Attach/Detach (QAD) Adapter Tension-Bolt
(2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) with a spray to:
(4) Measure the torque value on the tension bolt (2).
(a) If the torque is less than 22 lbf.ft (2.98 m.daN):
1 TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
.
(5) Tap the edge of the QAD ring (1) that you can see with a DRIFT - BRASS to make sure that the torque value that you measure is correct.
(6) Do the Steps (4) and (5) again until the torque value does not decrease by more than 2 lbf.ft (0.27 m.daN).
(7) TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
.
(8) Shake the antidrive end of the IDG to do a check of the QAD adapter.
(a) If the IDG is loose:
(9) Do Steps (4) and (5) again until the torque value does not decrease by more than 2 lbf.ft (0.27 m.daN).
(10) Do a check of the distance between the ring lug and the bracket of the QAD adapter:
(a) If the distance is less than 0.125 in. (3.2 mm):
1 Replace the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-806) and (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-806) but let the IDG accessory hoist stay installed, and do not attach the tubes, harnesses and other components.
2 Measure the distance again:
a If the distance is correct:
1 Safety the tension bolt (2) withCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia , (Ref. AMM TASK 20-11-11-911-001).
5. Close-upWARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Cut and discard the lockwire from the tension bolt (2). (2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) with a spray to:
- The QAD ring (1)
- The mating surface between the QAD adapter plate (3) and the QAD ring (1), in the zone where you can get access.
(4) Measure the torque value on the tension bolt (2).
(a) If the torque is less than 22 lbf.ft (2.98 m.daN):
1 TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
.(5) Tap the edge of the QAD ring (1) that you can see with a DRIFT - BRASS to make sure that the torque value that you measure is correct.

(7) TORQUE the tension bolt (2) to between 26 and 22 lbf.ft (3.53 and 2.98 m.daN )
.(8) Shake the antidrive end of the IDG to do a check of the QAD adapter.
(a) If the IDG is loose:
- Remove the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-806).
- Remove the QAD adapter (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-803).
- Install the QAD adapter that you removed (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-803).
- Install a new IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-400-806).
NOTE: When you send the IDG that you removed to the workshop, you must tell the personnel to replace the IDG mounting flange.
(b) If the IDG is not loose, do Step (9).
