3. Job Set-up
Subtask 80-12-49-941-053-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (3) On the overhead control and indicator panel 25VU, on the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) section:
     (a) Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton is released.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the APU.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position on the left side of the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 80-12-49-420-052-A
A. Installation of the Starter Air Duct
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (6), the two bolts (12) and the two bolts (17) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
   (3) Put a new EIPC 80-12-49-01-080 SEAL (2) in position in the flange of the pylon duct elbow (1).
   (4) Put a new
EIPC 80-12-49-01-090 SEAL (15) in position on the lower flange of the starter air valve (14).
   (5) Put the starter air duct (3) in position on the engine.
   (6) Loosely install the two bolts (12) that attach the starter air duct (3) to the support bracket (11).
   (7) Loosely install the two bolts (17) that attach the starter air duct (3) to the support bracket (16).
   (8) Assemble the two clamp saddles (7) and the two clamps (5) around the starter air duct (3). Loosely install the four bolts (6) to attach the clamps (5) to the support brackets (8).
   (9) Align the upper flange of the starter air duct (3) with the flange of the pylon duct elbow (1).
   (10) Assemble the V-retainer coupling (4) around the connection between the starter air duct (3) and the pylon duct elbow (1). Tighten the nut on the V-retainer coupling with your hand.
   (11) Align the lower flange of the starter air duct (3) with the flange of the starter air valve (14).
   (12) Assemble the V-retainer coupling (13) around the connection between the starter air duct (3) and the starter air valve (14). Tighten the nut on the V-retainer coupling with your hand.
   (13) TORQUE the two bolts (12) to between 0.76 and 0.64 m.daN (67.26 and 56.64 lbf.in )
T.
   (14) TORQUE the two bolts (17) to between 0.79 and 0.68 m.daN (69.91 and 60.18 lbf.in )
T.
   (15) TORQUE the four bolts (6) to between 0.76 and 0.64 m.daN (67.26 and 56.64 lbf.in )
T.
   (16) Torque the upper V-retainer coupling (4) as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the nut on the V-retainer coupling (4) to between 1.41 and 1.30 m.daN (124.78 and 115.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (b) Lightly tap around the outer diameter of the V-retainer coupling (4) with a MALLET - PLASTIC. Do not hit the latch mechanism on the V-retainer coupling.
     (c) TORQUE the nut on the V-retainer coupling (4) to between 1.41 and 1.30 m.daN (124.78 and 115.04 lbf.in )
T a second time.
   (17) Torque the lower V-retainer coupling (13) as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the nut on the V-retainer coupling (13) to between 1.13 and 0.96 m.daN (100.00 and 84.96 lbf.in )
T.
     (b) Lightly tap around the outer diameter of the V-retainer coupling (13) with a MALLET - PLASTIC. Do not hit the latch mechanism on the V-retainer coupling.
     (c) TORQUE the nut on the V-retainer coupling (13) to between 1.13 and 0.96 m.daN (100.00 and 84.96 lbf.in )
T a second time.

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
