1. Reason for the Job
This check must be done if a FOD (Foreign Object Damage) is probably found:
- Damages can cause a slow start or no start
- This check is also necessary if there is an indication of IP Bleed Check Valve damage (cracks, missing segments or wear out of limits)

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Inspect Starter for FOD.
(1) Remove the V-clamp (70) which attaches the air supply duct (80) to the pneumatic starter (60) to get access to the starter, if necessary, remove the lower starter duct (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-42-000-040).
(2) Introduces a mirror and a light in the starter exhaust, inspect the diffuser vane for any sign of FOD :
(5) If there is no sign of FOD, put the V-clamp (70) on the air supply duct (80) in position on the starter air inlet orifice. Lubricate the threads of clamp nut with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) . Install nut and TORQUE to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )

5. Close-up(1) Remove the V-clamp (70) which attaches the air supply duct (80) to the pneumatic starter (60) to get access to the starter, if necessary, remove the lower starter duct (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-42-000-040).
(2) Introduces a mirror and a light in the starter exhaust, inspect the diffuser vane for any sign of FOD :
- scratches, dents, missing segments.
- signs, impacts.
- remove and replace the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-400-001).
- Inspect the IP Bleed Check Valve (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-200-001) if this starter inspection is not applied per these tasks.
- Inspect the Pylon interface duct (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-200-041).
(5) If there is no sign of FOD, put the V-clamp (70) on the air supply duct (80) in position on the starter air inlet orifice. Lubricate the threads of clamp nut with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) . Install nut and TORQUE to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )

Pneumatic Starter Inspection
