C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

A. Removal and Inspection of the Magnetic Chip Collector Assemblies
WARNING: WAIT FIVE MINUTES MINIMUM TO MAKE SURE THAT THE OIL SYSTEM IS NOT PRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Find the five magnetic chip collector assemblies (5) on the lubrication and scavenge pump and one on the oil tube (LR40) at approximately the 8 o'clock position.
F Magnetic Chip Collectors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE OIL SYSTEM AND USE SUFFICIENT PROTECTION FOR THE HANDS AND EYES. THE OIL IS HOT AND CAN CAUSE BURNS.
   (2) Make sure the oil system is not pressurized as follows:
     (a) Wait five minutes after engine shutdown.
     (b) Open the oil tank cap (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-02-000-801).
     (c) Close the oil tank cap (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-02-000-801).
   (3) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the collector assemblies (5).
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THE MAGNETIC CHIP COLLECTOR AS A COMPLETE ASSEMBLY. REMOVE THE CHIP COLLECTOR BEFORE THE COLLECTOR VALVE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE CHIP COLLECTOR ASSEMBLY CAN OCCUR.
   (4) Remove each collector assembly (5) as follows:
NOTE: You must keep each chip collector and valve together as a set after removal.
     (a) Push the chip collector (2) in and turn it to disengage it from the collector valve (6).
     (b) Remove the chip collector (2).
     (c) Visually examine the chip collector (2) for contamination (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-210-811).
   (5) Examine the packing (1) on the chip collector (2) for damage or wear.
   (6) If there are signs of damage or wear, replace the packing (1) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the chip collector (2).
     (b) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine to a new EIPC 79-22-01-01-020 PACKING (1).
     (c) Install the new packing (1) on the chip collector (2).
   (7) Remove the collector valve (6) from the pump and oil tube (LR40).
   (8) Remove and discard the packings (3) and (4) from the collector valve (6).
   (9) Installation of protection covers:
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent engine damage.
