Installation of the Air Cooled Oil Cooler (ACOC)
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING REMOVAL INSTALLATION OF THE AIR COOLED OIL COOLER. IT WEIGHS 12.3lb (5.58kg).

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH THE OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 79-21-42-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.

Subtask 79-21-42-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the Air Cooled Oil Cooler (ACOC)
(1) Remove all covers, caps and plugs from the openings.
(2) Clean the mating faces of the air inlet duct and the ACOC with theV01-003 cleaning fluid (trichlorethylene) .
(3) Put the ACOC in position on the air inlet duct.
(4) Install the two bolts (1) and the two washers (2) on the bracket (23).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hand.
(5) Install the 12 bolts (10) and the 12 washers (9) on the brackets (24), (25), (26) and (27).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hand.
(6) Install the ten remaining bolts (10) and the ten remaining washers (9).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hand.
(7) TORQUE the bolts (1) and (10) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(8) Install the oil outlet tube (7).
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-21-42-80-040 SEALING RING (8) on the oil outlet tube (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(b) Install the oil outlet tube (7) on the ACOC and the oil tube (17).
(c) Install the three bolts (6).
(d) Use the IAE1R18002 WRENCH to connect the nut of the oil tube (17).
(e) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(f) TORQUE the nut of the oil tube (17) to between 513 and 478 lbf.in (5.80 and 5.40 m.daN )
(1.017 mdaN) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013)
(g) Safety the nut of the oil tube (17) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014).
(9) Install the oil inlet tube (3).
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-21-42-80-040 SEALING RING (8) on to the oil inlet tube (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(b) Install the oil inlet tube (3) on to the ACOC and the oil tube (18).
(c) Install the three bolts (4).
(d) Use the IAE1R18002 WRENCH to connect the nut of the oil inlet tube (3).
(e) TORQUE the bolts (4) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(f) TORQUE the nut of the oil tube (3) to between 513 and 478 lbf.in (5.80 and 5.40 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(g) Safety the nut of the oil inlet tube (3) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014).
(10) Assemble the clips on the tubes (3) and (7).
(a) Install the bolts (19), washer (21) and nut (20) on the clip position.
(b) Install the bolts (14), washer (15), clip (16) and nut (22) on the clip position.
(c) TORQUE the nuts (20) and (22) to between 36 and 32 lbf.in (0.41 and 0.36 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(11) Install the ACOC oil temperature-thermocouple (Ref. AMM TASK 79-32-15-400-010).
(b) Install the drain plug (13) with the seal ring on the ACOC.
(c) TORQUE the drain plug (13) to between 50 and 40 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.45 m.daN )

(d) Safety the drain plug (13) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-119) (12).
(13) Install the ACOC modulating valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-51-400-010).
(14) Install the bolts (29) and (30), washer (31), and nuts (32) and (33) on the bracket (28).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hands.
(15) TORQUE the bolts (29) and (30) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
5. Close-up(1) Remove all covers, caps and plugs from the openings.
(2) Clean the mating faces of the air inlet duct and the ACOC with the

(4) Install the two bolts (1) and the two washers (2) on the bracket (23).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hand.
(5) Install the 12 bolts (10) and the 12 washers (9) on the brackets (24), (25), (26) and (27).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hand.
(6) Install the ten remaining bolts (10) and the ten remaining washers (9).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hand.
(7) TORQUE the bolts (1) and (10) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (8) Install the oil outlet tube (7).
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-21-42-80-040 SEALING RING (8) on the oil outlet tube (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(b) Install the oil outlet tube (7) on the ACOC and the oil tube (17).
(c) Install the three bolts (6).
(d) Use the IAE1R18002 WRENCH to connect the nut of the oil tube (17).
(e) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (f) TORQUE the nut of the oil tube (17) to between 513 and 478 lbf.in (5.80 and 5.40 m.daN )
(1.017 mdaN) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013)(g) Safety the nut of the oil tube (17) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014).
(9) Install the oil inlet tube (3).
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-21-42-80-040 SEALING RING (8) on to the oil inlet tube (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(b) Install the oil inlet tube (3) on to the ACOC and the oil tube (18).
(c) Install the three bolts (4).
(d) Use the IAE1R18002 WRENCH to connect the nut of the oil inlet tube (3).
(e) TORQUE the bolts (4) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (f) TORQUE the nut of the oil tube (3) to between 513 and 478 lbf.in (5.80 and 5.40 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (g) Safety the nut of the oil inlet tube (3) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014).
(10) Assemble the clips on the tubes (3) and (7).
(a) Install the bolts (19), washer (21) and nut (20) on the clip position.
(b) Install the bolts (14), washer (15), clip (16) and nut (22) on the clip position.
(c) TORQUE the nuts (20) and (22) to between 36 and 32 lbf.in (0.41 and 0.36 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (11) Install the ACOC oil temperature-thermocouple (Ref. AMM TASK 79-32-15-400-010).
NOTE: If the thermocouple is not removed, connect the electrical connector (5) to the ACOC (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-15-912-010).
(12) Install the drain plug (13).NOTE: If the new ACOC is delivered with a new seal installed and the drain plug wirelocked, it is not necessary to replace the seal ring with a new seal ring.
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-21-42-80-090 SEAL RING (11) on the drain plug (13) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010). (b) Install the drain plug (13) with the seal ring on the ACOC.
(c) TORQUE the drain plug (13) to between 50 and 40 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.45 m.daN )
.(d) Safety the drain plug (13) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-119) (12).
(13) Install the ACOC modulating valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-51-400-010).
(14) Install the bolts (29) and (30), washer (31), and nuts (32) and (33) on the bracket (28).
(a) Tighten the bolts with your hands.
(15) TORQUE the bolts (29) and (30) to between 105 and 85 lbf.in (1.19 and 0.96 m.daN )

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
Subtask 79-21-42-790-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
B. Test requirements.
(1) Do an operational test of the EIU (Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-710-042) and make sure that on the CFDS no fault is shown related to the ACOC Oil Temperature-Thermocouple and ACOC Modulating Valve.
(2) Do an idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-012).
(1) Do an operational test of the EIU (Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-710-042) and make sure that on the CFDS no fault is shown related to the ACOC Oil Temperature-Thermocouple and ACOC Modulating Valve.
(2) Do an idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-012).
NOTE: If you have not removed/installed the ACOC oil temperature-thermocouple, do a dry motor leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-045).
