WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
Subtask 79-21-25-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Main Heat Exchanger
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the main heat exchanger (1).
   (2) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (3) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (4) Lubricate the threads of the following items with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) :
   (5) Install the main heat exchanger (1) in the correct position on the three mounting brackets (18).
   (6) Install the four bolts (16) equipped with the captive washers to attach the main heat exchanger (1) on the three mounting brackets (18).
   (7) TORQUE the four bolts (16) to between 74.55 and 67.45 lbf.in (0.84 and 0.76 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Connection of the oil tubes to the main heat exchanger (1):
     (a) Install the oil tube (14) in the correct position on the main heat exchanger (1).
     (b) TORQUE the coupling nut (15) to attach the oil tube (14) on the main heat exchanger (1) to between 310 and 270 lbf.in (3.50 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (c) Install the new gasket (13) and the oil tube (11) in the correct position on the main heat exchanger (1).
     (d) Install the four bolts (12) to attach the oil tube (11) to the main heat exchanger (1), and tighten them with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the four bolts (12) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
     (f) Install the new gasket (10) and the oil tube (8) in the correct position on the main heat exchanger (1).
     (g) Install the four bolts (9) to attach the oil tube (8) to the main heat exchanger (1) and tighten them with your hand.
     (h) TORQUE the four bolts (9) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
   (9) Connection of the fuel tubes to the main heat exchanger (1):
     (a) Install the new gasket (7) and the fuel tube (5) in the correct position on the main heat exchanger (1).
     (b) Install the four bolts (6) to attach the fuel tube (5) to the main heat exchanger (1), and tighten them with your hand.
     (c) TORQUE the four bolts (6) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
     (d) Install the new gasket (4) and the fuel tube (2) in the correct position on the main heat exchanger (1).
     (e) Install the four bolts (3) to attach the fuel tube (2) to the main heat exchanger (1), and tighten them with your hand.
     (f) TORQUE the four bolts (3) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Remove the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) from below the main heat exchanger (1).

C. Test
   (1) Do the idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-815).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
