A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

4. Procedure
NOTE: Collection of unwanted material in the lubrication system scavenge filters or on the magnetic chip detectors can indicate parts damage in the oil wetted sections of the engine. Depending on the time since the last shop visit, the filters may collect material unrelated to the engine parts, such as shotpeen remaining material of approximately 0.008 inch (0.2 mm), tool fragments, or machining chips. For the description and identification of the different types of collected particles, refer to the Non-Destructive Test Manual, Part 10, Chip Analysis.

A. Check position of clogging indicator. If the indicator is red, replace the corresponding filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-400-003) and set clogging indicator operational as follows:
   (1) Cut and remove lockwire. Loosen and remove knurled coupling nut and transparent plug.
   (2) Reset by pushing in clogging indicator with thumb.
   (3) Lightly coat threads of knurled coupling nut with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) . Hand-tighten knurled coupling nut and transparent plug and wirelock with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the left fan cowl door: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040)

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
