Removal of the Fuel/Oil Heat Exchanger

DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE FUEL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE FUEL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the left thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the left thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 79-21-08-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the Fuel/Oil Heat Exchanger
(1) Find the fuel/oil heat exchanger (heat exchanger) (1) at the 10 o'clock position on the fuel/oil manifold.
(2) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the heat exchanger (1) to catch any remaining fuel or oil.
(3) Remove the eight bolts (5) that attach the heat exchanger (1) to the fuel/oil manifold.
(4) Remove the heat exchanger (1).
(5) Remove the two bolts (4), the two washers (3) and the face seal (2) from the fuel/oil manifold.
(1) Find the fuel/oil heat exchanger (heat exchanger) (1) at the 10 o'clock position on the fuel/oil manifold.
(2) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the heat exchanger (1) to catch any remaining fuel or oil.
(3) Remove the eight bolts (5) that attach the heat exchanger (1) to the fuel/oil manifold.
(4) Remove the heat exchanger (1).
(5) Remove the two bolts (4), the two washers (3) and the face seal (2) from the fuel/oil manifold.
NOTE: You can use the face seal (2) again at installation (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-08-400-801).
(6) Installation of the protection covers. CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
