A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the Oil System Tubes and Hose Assemblies

   (1) Do a visual inspection of the oil system tubes and hose assemblies as follows:
F Oil System Tubes ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Oil System Hoses ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

NOTE: Oil system tubes and hose assemblies that are removed due to damage may be sent to the shop for repair, review and possible return to service CMM 710017.
INSPECT/CHECK
MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS
REMARKS
1.Examine the oil system tubes, look for:

A.Cracks, splits, kinks
Length must not be more than 2 times the outside diameter of the tube.
If damage is less than the allowable limits, repair the tube at next 750 Flight Hours / 750 Flight Cycles / 4 calendar months (whichever the earliest). If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
B.Dents
Maximum depth must be less than 20 percent of the tube outside diameter. Maximum radius is not less than 2 times the wall thickness of the tube. Maximum of 6 dents for each 1 foot (305 mm) length of tube.
If the dent is less than the allowable limits, then repair the dent at next 750 Flight Hours / 750 Flight Cycles / 4 calendar months (whichever the earliest). If the dent is more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001). There is no limit to the number of dents allowed, but they must be less than the allowable limits.
C.Flat areas
Maximum length must be less than 3 times the outside diameter of the tube. Contour change must be less than 20 percent of the outside diameter of the tube.
If flat area is less than the allowable limits, repair the tube at next 750 Flight Hours / 750 Flight Cycles / 4 calendar months (whichever the earliest). If the flat area is more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001). There is no limit to the number of flat areas allowed, but they must be less than the allowable limits.
D.Nicks, scratches, chafing, scores
Maximum depth 0.005 in. (0.13 mm).
If the damage is less than the allowable limits, repair the tube at next 750 Flight Hours / 750 Flight Cycles / 4 calendar months (whichever the earliest). If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001). There is no limit to the number of nicks, scratches, chafing or scores allowed, but the damage must be less than the allowable limits.
E.Wrinkles in bends
Maximum depth must be less than 10 percent of the tube diameter.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
2.Examine the oil system hose assembly, look for:
A.Cracks
None permitted
If cracks are found, replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
B.Crimps
None permitted
Replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
PRE SB RA32079-8
C.Cuts, tears on fire sleeve
Maximum depth must be less than one half of the sleeve thickness. Any number permitted.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
POST SB RA32079-8
D.Broken wire braids
Maximum of 3 broken wires per plait. No more than 6 broken wires in an assembly. No more than 6 broken wires in each one foot (305 mm) of hose.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
END OF SB RA32079-8
E.Internal blockage
None permitted
If blockage is found remove the blockage or replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
F.Leakage
None permitted
Replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
3.Examine the fittings on the two ends of the hose, look for:
A.Thread damage
Damage is permitted if the threads that are good are not reduced by more than one thread.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
B.Damaged flats
Damage is permitted if the end fittings can keep the correct torque value.
If the end fittings can not keep the correct torque replace the hose (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-20-00-400-001).
C.Safety wire hole damaged or worn
Damage is permitted if the metal around the hole is not cracked or torn. One undrilled corner must remain.
Blend out damage. If necessary drill a hole in the undrilled corner. The new hole must be the same diameter and distance from the end of the nut as the old hole.
