3. Job Set-up
Subtask 79-11-05-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE COMPONENTS OF THE OIL SYSTEM IF THE ENGINE IS HOT. THESE COMPONENTS STAY HOTTER THAN OTHER COMPONENTS. HOT COMPONENTS CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE FILLER CAP OF THE OIL TANK IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENGINE OPERATION. LET THE OIL PRESSURE DECREASE FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. IF YOU OPEN THE FILLER CAP WHEN THERE IS PRESSURE IN THE TANK, THE OIL CAN BURN YOU DANGEROUSLY.
WARNING: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY. THE OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.
Subtask 79-11-05-020-050-A
A. Removal of the Oil Tank
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 30 L(8 USGAL) below the oil tank (1).
   (2) Drain the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-808).
   (3) Remove the oil level sensor (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-05-000-801).
   (4) Remove the oil-debris monitoring separator (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-36-05-000-801).
   (5) Disconnection of the drain tube (4) and oil tube (6) from the oil tank (1):
     (a) Loosen the coupling nut (5) of the drain tube (4).
     (b) Disconnect the drain tube (4) from the oil tank (1).
     (c) Remove the four bolts (7) that attach the oil tube (6) to the oil tank (1).
     (d) Disconnect the oil tube (6) from the oil tank (1).
     (e) Remove and discard the gasket (8).
   (6) Removal of the oil tank (1) from the mounting brackets:
     (a) Install the 956A7615 ADAPTER, REMOVE/INSTALL - OIL TANK on the oil tank (1).
     (b) Install the 956A7615 ADAPTER, REMOVE/INSTALL - OIL TANK on the 956A7649 JACK, REMOVE/INSTALL - BOTTOM LRU.
     (c) Remove the two bolts (9) that attach the oil tank (1) to the rear mounting bracket (10).
     (d) Remove the two bolts (11) that attach the oil tank (1) to the front mounting bracket (12).
     (e) Remove the four bolts (13) that attach the oil tank (1) to the middle mounting bracket (14).
     (f) Remove the five nuts (15) and five bolts (16) that attach the rear mounting bracket (10) to the engine.
     (g) Remove the rear mounting bracket (10) from the engine.
     (h) Remove the oil tank (1) from the engine.
     (i) Remove the 956A7615 ADAPTER, REMOVE/INSTALL - OIL TANK from the oil tank (1).
   (7) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, tubes, hoses and disconnected connectors.
   (8) Remove the CONTAINER 30 L(8 USGAL) from below the oil tank (1).
