A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-37-51-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position in the left side of engine.

C. Depressurization of the hydraulic reservoirs
(1) For engine 1 depressurize the green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(2) For engine 2 depressurize the yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
4. Procedure(1) For engine 1 depressurize the green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(2) For engine 2 depressurize the yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

A. Removal of the Thrust Reverser Hydraulic Isolation Valve Filter
PRE SPIB CFM01100MW2
(1) Put a CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) below the filter.
(2) Remove the filter bowl (9), as follows:
(b) Turn the filter bowl counter-clockwise to remove it from the filter head (1).
(3) Remove and discard the filter element (6) from the filter bowl (9).
(4) Remove and discard the C-ring (5).
(5) Pull on the element removal spring (4) to remove it from the shutoff diaphragm (2).
(6) Remove and discard the packing (3) from the shutoff diaphragm (2).

(10) Put a CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) below the filter.
(11) Remove the filter bowl (19), as follows:
(b) Turn the filter bowl counter-clockwise to remove it from the filter head (11).
(12) Remove and discard the filter element (14).

(1) Put a CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) below the filter.
(2) Remove the filter bowl (9), as follows:
WARNING:
YOU MUST REMOVE THE FILTER BOWL CAREFULLY BECAUSE IT IS FULL OF HYDRAULIC FLUID AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.
(a) Use a WRENCH - OPEN END to loosen the filter bowl (9). (b) Turn the filter bowl counter-clockwise to remove it from the filter head (1).
(3) Remove and discard the filter element (6) from the filter bowl (9).
(4) Remove and discard the C-ring (5).
(5) Pull on the element removal spring (4) to remove it from the shutoff diaphragm (2).
(6) Remove and discard the packing (3) from the shutoff diaphragm (2).
NOTE: The shutoff diaphragm (2) is only shown to indicate where the packing (3) is located. You must not remove the shutoff diaphragm from the filter head.
(7) Turn the filter bowl (9) upside down and remove the B/V washer (7). CAUTION:
DO NOT DAMAGE THE DPI OR FILTER BOWL WITH THE METAL TOOLS WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PACKING.
(8) Remove the packing (8) from the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) (10) in the filter bowl, as follows: NOTE: For removal/installation of Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) (10) from/into the filter bowl (9), refer to Component Maintenance Manual CMM 783155 . Removal of DPI from filter bowl can ease in the removal/installation of packing (8).
(a) Use a SPATULA - NON METALLIC to push the packing (8) out of its groove in the DPI. NOTE: Bend the end of the spatula approximately 45 degrees. This will help push the packing out of its groove.
(b) Use a second spatula to remove the packing (8) from the DPI. Discard the packing. NOTE: If the DPI must be replaced, the complete filter assembly must be removed from the aircraft. A complete acceptance test procedure must be done when the DPI is replaced.

(10) Put a CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL) below the filter.
(11) Remove the filter bowl (19), as follows:
WARNING:

(a) Use a 32 mm (1.26 in.) socket to loosen the filter bowl (19). (b) Turn the filter bowl counter-clockwise to remove it from the filter head (11).
(12) Remove and discard the filter element (14).
NOTE: The shutoff valve assembly (13) is only shown to indicate where the C-ring (12) is located. You must not remove the shutoff valve from the filter head.
CAUTION:
DO NOT DAMAGE THE DPI OR FILTER BOWL WITH THE METAL TOOLS WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PACKING.
(13) Remove the packing (18) from the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) (20) in the filter bowl, as follow: NOTE: For Removal/Installation of Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) from the filter bowl, refer to Component Maintenance Manual CMM 783155 . Removal of DPI from filter bowl can ease in the Removal/Installation of packing (18).
(a) Use a spatula to push the packing (18) out of its groove in the DPI. NOTE: Bend the end of the spatula approximately 45 degrees. This will help push the packing out of its groove.

B. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Isolation Valve Hydraulic Filter
PRE SPIB CFM01100MW2
(1) Put a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-060 PACKING (3) in the seal groove of the shutoff diaphragm (2).
(2) Install the element removal spring (4) in the shutoff diaphragm (2). Push the spring (4) into the groove of the shutoff diaphragm until the first coil is fully engaged.
(3) Hold the filter bowl (9) with the open end at the top.
(4) Install a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-010 PACKING (8) on the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) (10) as follows:
(b) Lubricate the packing (8) and the installation tool bullet with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(c) put the packing (8) on the installation tool bullet.
(d) Put the installation tool bullet into the filter bowl until it touches the top of the DPI.
(f) Make sure the packing (8) is in the groove on the DPI (10).
(5) Install the B/V washer (7) in the filter bowl (9).
(7) Install a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-040 C-RING (5) in the top groove of the filter head (1).
(8) Fill the filter bowl (9) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(9) Install the filter bowl (9) into the filter head (1) and turn the filter bowl clockwise.
(10) Use a 1-1/4 inch (31.75 mm) socket and torque wrench to tighten the filter bowl (9).
(11) TORQUE the filter bowl (9) to between 85 and 75 lbf.ft (11.52 and 10.17 m.daN )

(12) Hold the filter bowl (19) with the open end at the top.
(13) Install a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-010 PACKING (18) on the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) as follows:
(b) Lubricate the packing (18) and the installation tool bullet with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(c) put the packing (18) on the installation tool bullet.
(d) Put the installation tool bullet into the filter bowl until it touches the top of the DPI.
(e) Use the installation tool push tube to push the packing down the bullet and on to the DPI.
(f) Make sure the packing (18) is in the groove on the DPI.
(14) Lubricate a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-070 PACKING (15), a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-030 BACK-UP RING (16), the disc spring (17), and a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-080 C-RING (12) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(15) Put the disc spring (17) onto a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-050 FILTER ELEMENT (14).
(17) Put the back-up ring (16) and the packing (15) on the filter bowl (19).
(18) Put the C-ring (12) into the groove on the filter head (11).
(19) Fill the filter bowl (19) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(20) Install the filter bowl (19):
(21) Use a SOCKET DIA 32 MM (1.26 IN) and torque the filter bowl (19) to between 85 and 75 lbf.ft (11.52 and 10.17 m.daN )

(22) Install the fire blanket (21) onto the filter bowl (19) withCP8004 lockwire 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) dia or CP8005 lockwire 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) dia

5. Close-upPRE SPIB CFM01100MW2
(1) Put a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-060 PACKING (3) in the seal groove of the shutoff diaphragm (2).
(2) Install the element removal spring (4) in the shutoff diaphragm (2). Push the spring (4) into the groove of the shutoff diaphragm until the first coil is fully engaged.
(3) Hold the filter bowl (9) with the open end at the top.
(4) Install a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-010 PACKING (8) on the Differential Pressure Indicator (DPI) (10) as follows:
CAUTION:
DO NOT DAMAGE THE DPI OR FILTER BOWL WITH THE METAL TOOLS WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PACKING.
(a) Use the AAB847-6SE3 INSTALLATION TOOL - O-RING to install the packing (8). The installation tool has two pieces, the bullet and the push tube. (b) Lubricate the packing (8) and the installation tool bullet with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(c) put the packing (8) on the installation tool bullet.
(d) Put the installation tool bullet into the filter bowl until it touches the top of the DPI.
NOTE: The small end of the bullet should be up.
(e) Use the installation tool push tube to push the packing down the bullet and on to the DPI. (f) Make sure the packing (8) is in the groove on the DPI (10).
(5) Install the B/V washer (7) in the filter bowl (9).
NOTE: The smaller diameter of the B/V washer should face the open end of the filter bowl.
(6) Install the new AIPC 78-37-51-01-030 FILTER ELEMENT (6) in the filter bowl (9). (7) Install a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-040 C-RING (5) in the top groove of the filter head (1).
(8) Fill the filter bowl (9) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(9) Install the filter bowl (9) into the filter head (1) and turn the filter bowl clockwise.
(10) Use a 1-1/4 inch (31.75 mm) socket and torque wrench to tighten the filter bowl (9).
(11) TORQUE the filter bowl (9) to between 85 and 75 lbf.ft (11.52 and 10.17 m.daN )

(f) Make sure the packing (18) is in the groove on the DPI.
(14) Lubricate a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-070 PACKING (15), a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-030 BACK-UP RING (16), the disc spring (17), and a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-080 C-RING (12) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(15) Put the disc spring (17) onto a new AIPC 78-37-51-01-050 FILTER ELEMENT (14).
NOTE: The larger diameter of the disc spring (17) should face the open end of the filter bowl.
(16) Put the filter element (14) into the filter bowl (19) and push it tightly into place. (17) Put the back-up ring (16) and the packing (15) on the filter bowl (19).
(18) Put the C-ring (12) into the groove on the filter head (11).
(19) Fill the filter bowl (19) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid.
(20) Install the filter bowl (19):
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE FILTER ELEMENT (14) ENGAGES CORRECTLY WITH THE SHUTOFF VALVE (13).
(a) Install the filter bowl (19) into the filter head (11) and turn the filter bowl clockwise. (21) Use a SOCKET DIA 32 MM (1.26 IN) and torque the filter bowl (19) to between 85 and 75 lbf.ft (11.52 and 10.17 m.daN )

A. Pressurization of the hydraulic reservoir
(1) For engine 1 pressurize the green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(2) For engine 2 pressurize the yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Make sure that there is no leaks at the tube connections.
Subtask 78-37-51-410-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For engine 1 pressurize the green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(2) For engine 2 pressurize the yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Make sure that there is no leaks at the tube connections.
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
